The Artistry of Buck Knives

Most of those knives are made recently. I see the racks of custom knives. These are done by hand by one person. They are not ran thru production. Just like your 121. Made by hand by one person. They are building customs right now for next year's BCCI get together.

Nope. You're desperately spinning the truth, but you're simply wrong.

Unless the general public can order and get whatever they want it's not a true custom shop.

"Custom" means exactly that. You custom order an individual knife that you conceive.....NOT a mass produced knife off a menu that someone else thought up.

They don't do custom orders unless you order a minimum amount now. Dealers for the most part do that.
If I wanted a 110 with s90v and iron wood and copper inserts I can get it with a minimum quantity.

I'm not desperately spinning the truth. I'm telling you the truth. You just refuse to hear it.

No arguing here stud. Just stating what I know.
I think your initial post shows who's trying to argue. Nice try though.

insult trying to incite a response
That will be different, Mak.
:D
I do wish Buck would revive the REAL Custom Shoppe that they used to have.

I'd be a customer for sure.

the old custom shop.......how did it work. you could get a single blade made to ones specifications...such as a 124 with a longer blade than production, as an example?

jbmonkey jbmonkey : There was a time when you could give them a sketch of what you wanted in a knife and they would make it for you. Yes, you could get I believe the 124 & 120 by the inch as well. Perhaps Gedlicks will show off some of his 1 of a kind Bucks in this thread. Everything from bowies to letter openers.
If you're a BCCI member you can look at some of the designs at the bottom of the Model History page. Some of those I've seen photos of on this forum. Really cool stuff!
These days 1 of a kind usually means a special handle on a stock blade. Hopefully with JH at the helm of the custom department we'll see some more oddities come about. I know of one particular individual who has several one off customs JH has made recently.
Is the custom shop as it once was a thing of the past? Yes, of course. Is there still a custom shop at Buck? Yes! With some limitations, of course.

When the old custom shop was open you could have any knife made using almost any materials you wanted. It could be a design from their custom catalog or you could draw and submit your own.
