The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

Also not Nathan, but I've had no issues baking mine (micarta and g-10) at kydex forming temps for about 10 minutes prior to smashing;)

Whatcha thinkin' about doing?

Thanks Chip.

I bought a big ass pot and all the other equipment and supplies I’d need to do a polyester (synthetic) dye and dye fixative via the boiling method.

Just making sure I'm not about to ruin $300 in extra scales.

I boiled my Terotuf handles to Rit dye with no I'll effects:)

I used the synthetic dye. I actually forgot, but Nathan's correct...the fibers did swell some but it returned to normal once they completely dried out. The liner/terotuf joint is still perfectly flush:thumbsup:

Nice, have a pic?
In the interest of science, I have discovered that Terotuf is dyeable! ;)

I think I'll redo it with a darker green, but it definitely took the Rit:)

;)

Hi Nathan, planning on swapping handle scales on my proto-MC and my soon-to-receive production-MC. I don't recall you mentioning anything about handles being tweaked in the progression but just wanted to check first. TIA.

There were some tweaks that were done in process. The profiles will probably match the holes will definitely match. The hidden lanyard hole will probably not match.
