The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

Thank God

I told my manager I have a really important thing to do Friday and if I'm on my phone and look stressed don't bother me lol

Mind you. If it goes anything like the K18, the difference between being at the beginning of the order and being at the end of the order is the difference between me being late one year and me being late two years. So, there is that...

I'm putting the finishing touches on it now and I can't get the kinetics how I need it without another weighted pommel. So, inflation issues aside, I'm not going to be listing this for the original list price of the K18. That was the goal, but staying afloat is also a goal.

Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist could the handle have a tungsten weight rather than a pommel? Not that that will help cost or lessen complexity.

It could but in our experiments it needs to be rigidly attached to the tang to transmit energy properly. We had to change our attachment mechanism with the K18 because they were coming apart in the impacts in our testing of the prototype.

Historical swords would sometimes bend a tang because the energy transfer from the pommel would destroy the under hardened steel. The simplest thing to do are two pins and some tight screws. Like we did on the K 18.
