The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

Since Timmy got his wish, and there might be 2 more in there…

Nathan will you make me a Skinner? Old pattern or a new 3” version would be fine. If you’re not too busy.

Would also be interested in a 3V wood chipper blade.

Thx in advance! :)

I've dropped a few hints in other threads, but don't know if Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist saw them.

Nathan, can I buy one of the Bowies from you? Please?? Pretty please??? 🙏
Sure, absolutely. I plan to put a few up for sale in case anybody wants one.

They are pretty ridiculous though. I don't expect much interest.

Good evening, are y’all having a sale on Friday November 4 2022? Thank you!
First post in the “The Next Sale” always has the next sale date/details.

When you use a black micarta backer on some of the scale materials, is it run in a parallel orientation to the main scale material or perpendicular to it?
I mean like plywood, where the layers are run in perpendicular grain orientation - on micarta the weave orientation. Just wondering.

A solution of about 1:17 lead:stomach acid (preferably from a pony, but a unicorn will do in a pinch) by weight, and leave the knife to soak for 73 hours. That's how you get the nice grey color.

Anybody else?
This is pretty spot on. I would add that it is rumored the stomach acid of a centaur can be used but only if the acid is from its horse stomach as opposed to its man stomach.

I'm pretty sure this thread is not called "Make up stupid answers for a reasonable question."

Fine. I would just wipe it down with mineral oil. Remove all the flakey stuff through the rubbing. The mineral oil will change the red rust to black rust. Black rust is extremely slow moving. So slow you likely won’t notice any progression in your lifetime.
