Nathan, I’ve been looking around for other work vehicles because my stock 2006 Ford 6.0l diesel scares me without a few thousand dollars invested to bulletproof it. In my searching I recently came across a 1993 Ford 7.3l diesel. It’s single owner with only about 65K miles on it. My 6.0l has just shy of 100k. Should I go for the 7.3?
Or go in the other direction and get the new 6.7. they're supposed to be a relatively long life engine although you have all the particle filter and diesel exhaust fluid and other crap. But it makes plenty of horsepower and is supposed to be pretty reliable.
I hear that just about anything is "very reliable" compared to the 6.0
I've been considering the new 7.3 Godzilla gasoline engine for my next truck. Diesels are getting where it's not tenable. The fuel is expensive and there's all this crap bolted to them that makes them break down now and the EPA is cracking down on people that want to bypass that stuff. You have to run them hard and get them hot or they goop up. They're not very good for just around town anymore.
