The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

We're doing a reorganization of the entire facility and trying to make a headway on these k20s. It has limited our output here recently. We were actually going to put these SDFK up on the website but I don't have DEK to sell here yet because we haven't sorted out our MC heat treat at Peters and I don't want to start selling them on Friday sales until we have more of the pre-orders shipped

Good luck on the facility, and getting those customer's some DEK.
Yes and with getting your dialled magna cut HT replicated at Peters!

Nathan, I’ve been looking around for other work vehicles because my stock 2006 Ford 6.0l diesel scares me without a few thousand dollars invested to bulletproof it. In my searching I recently came across a 1993 Ford 7.3l diesel. It’s single owner with only about 65K miles on it. My 6.0l has just shy of 100k. Should I go for the 7.3?
My ‘property truck’ is a 1999 F250 Superduty with 7.3 turbodiesel and 178,000 miles. It is not fast, quick, or plush but it is reliable and chugs up steep hills off-road with heavy loads in 4wd low and granny gear with no effort. The place I have it serviced sees lots of them with over 500,000 miles. The new trucks look awesome but I would never take one that expensive offroad getting scratched up. I know guys up here who love their bullet-proofed 6.0’s. A few thousand dollars seems like a lot, but compared to a new truck payment…..maybe not. Good luck with your search.

Once you get things up and running for increasing production, will the K20 be something that will be available again as a production offering (not including blade show)?
I understand Pre-orders are a big pain, but if there is limited interest to do a production run, maybe you could do a Pre-order for the K20 and K18 again.

Thanks

Nathan said due to the unexpected demand for the K20 he was planning on doing a second preorder if the project turns out OK. Obviously that statement is subject to change based on the facts on the ground, but it was the plan.

The K20 preorder was the reason for the ongoing "Don't worry, you have all week to decide" joke - he said he would leave the preorder open for a week or until he had 100 swords reserved, and getting 100 swords reserved took approximately 14 seconds after the preorder opened, which was sufficiently fast that he wasn't even able to get in the first hundred posts of his own thread.

Thank you madcap, I didn’t know this and hope it turns out so that there is another preorder for it.

My father owned a small business that was very successful and was able to retire comfortably after selling it. He mentioned the other day that it was very rewarding but very stressful during those years and I can’t imagine what Nathan, Jo, and the crew go through to keep it running and putting out quality knives.

And that lightning fast fill-up is why a lot of us who said we’d be in on the pre-order ahead of time missed out. I’m not bitter or anything…

I have a question for you, Nathan, and I'm asking it here because I think all your followers need to know your answer:

If you had a pony, would you;

a. ride it around
b. feed it apples and tell it what a good boy/girl it is
c. cuddle with it in a cozy bed of straw
d. play your banjo and sing to it
e. eat it
f. all of the above

For this survey, multiple answers are fine.

CPK should make some "K20 veteran" T-Shirts for all the people who made it in the first run.
