Good morning Nathan the Machinist


What are the odds of a Spyderco x NTM Collab that will result in a Delta 3V Military/PM2/Manix/Endura?? Something along the lines of what we are currently seeing with Sean/Triple B/Big Brown Bear and his 15V PM2/Shaman/Manix collabs. As a follow up, what Spyderco model would you choose to put a D3V blade in if you could only pick one?

Back in the day... this was a fun sized, manageable thread where questions could be answered..... Just a thought Nathan, if this has become a blizzard of questions that becomes untenable.... Most of us would understand.

I don't think it would be fun for me at this level anymore....

And to those asking lots of questions.... Probably most of them would be answered by research and reading other threads in the sub forum?

I don't mind the questions but I can't always answer all of them. This forum has gotten pretty busy and I'm not able to keep up with it all like I used to. But I try.

No. The shape is a little different.

There aren’t many “Micarta” companies that have kept their manufacturing process stateside, but they are one of them.

I’ve been working with some of their linen from the 80’s/90’s and paper from the 60’s and it seems to be just as good (or nearly as good) as the material from Westinghouse, International Paper, and GE that I’ve worked with.

How’d did it work for you? The stuff I have has machined very well.

I have a couple sets of 60’s scales I’d love to send your way if you’re interested? They’re only a 1/4” thick though.

Hey Nathan do you guys strop your knives after sharpening?
I was watching a video of someone who bought a Dek and he said he thought you did, because under the grind lines of the edge, there seems to be a light mirror polish. Just wondering if his assumption is correct?

This might be a question for Jo instead, but I'll ask here just in case. If you ordered multiple knives as part of the DEK2 & 3 preorder, will they ship separately as they're completed or do you wait until everything is done and ship them together?
