See? Maglev!Meh.
Neither *shrug*
Some folks might disagree with me here but
I feel that my S grind (that wins the majority of Bladesports cutting competitions) is a convex grind. It's just so narrow that it became slightly concave in the middle. But functionally it is a very narrow convex grind.
I was hoping this. The Shiro did teach me that bearings can be pretty durable in rough use and tolerate wet gritty dirty environments better than I would have thought they would. But I'm not going to go that direction at this time.
I'm going to use "washers" that are integrated into the hardened steel 3V frame. Because I personally don't want to have to worry about grit affecting the durability and longevity of my pocket knife. I'm pretty rough on stuff, and I'm building this for my own personal preferences.
A few days back, a BFK went to a friend(his first CPK). His first words- this knife is a tank; second- the sheath is incredible. I sometimes forget that I take CPK for granted. They come with an outstanding kydex sheath.
I was hoping this.
Will the blade be machined so the “washers” on the frame fit into the blade?
I had an idea similar to yours and would like to see yours realized.
Hope it’s a preorder![]()
Hopefully third isn't - f$%& this thing is sharp!, while on the way to ERA few days back, a BFK went to a friend(his first CPK). His first words- this knife is a tank; second- the sheath is incredible. I sometimes forget that I take CPK for granted.
...shit...I suppose I can live with 1.3 micron slop...
Terribly awesome! No but I did buy an Okamoto surface grinder that can control the thickness of the blade to approximately 50 millionth of an inch, and I will be integrating the pivot into the frame and that "washer" and the top of that pivot will be finish cut with the same tool in the same setup, back to back, on a fresh tight Mori Seiki that can also control that dimension to within about 50 millionth of an inch, so I intend to design it with no adjustability. No take-up screw at all. You just run it down tight and that's what you got. If you want to tighten it up you'd have to lap the end of the pivot down a little bit. Just built-in precision, no adjustment, you tighten it up and it just is what it is. Although I think you'll be able to drive a truck on it and still flip it.
It will probably be a terrible pocket knife.
I'm known for my fixed blades, why would you want to buy a pocket knife from me. It's going to be terrible.
Nathan the Machinist will it be a frame lock or something else? Please tell me it’s not a frame lock.
Oh, and what it actually is and not just “it’s not a frame lock”![]()
