The "Ask Nathan a Question" Thread

I edited my post with a little more detail

It looks very similar to the hollow grind CRK actually used to do on the 25. Except the radius of the curve would be something you would find on a 36" wheel or so. They would start a little behind the edge bevel and end up by the start of the primary grind/bevel around the shoulder. So like a typical hollow grind but so subtle it was almost like a flat grind.

Nate, any plans on upgrading the hardware you use? I love the torx hardware that S! is now using. Any chance of a change coming?

I seem to recall that he addressed a similar question when way back from Justin. Something to the effect of he's in the "if it ain't broken, no need to fix it" camp. His answer was much more elegant but that's what I took from it!

Nathan actually had some of his fasteners made to order. So I don't think they will be changing. He wasn't interested at all in the titanium option as they were kinda.... low quality.

@Hard Knocks did install S!K fasteners in a CPK himself. Maybe have him do the work?!

I now remember but I'm actually all good to go with the hex fasteners Mathan uses.

I won't be sending my knives anywhere for hardware. I just prefer hardware that's better looking and doesn't show wear so easily.

wrt hardware, it's super easy to remove the black oxide finish and polish them up a bit to make em sassy

this took less than 3 minutes, and that includes uploading the photos

Why is the Carothers logo <poorly> ground off?

My guess is that was a test/flawed blade. Based on the occurrence of a test blade showing up in the wild one time fairly recently, my guess is Nathan doesn't want a test blade showing up in the wild with a mark again so is taking no chances.

Makes sense. Jo did mention that Lorien gets all the cool stuff. Lucky!
