Generally speaking, the pre-orders are a bad idea for most people when you can just get it on a Friday sale and not have to wait.

However, the DEK3 had an enormous reject rate and, unfortunately, there were pretty much no extras available.

Metal does not have any good characteristics making it a remotely suitable material for the scales. You will never see me do that.
 
What is the current thought on sheath design for the kukri? I know it is really spelled khukuri but that is like when people say Whatamala instead of Guatamala as if they are native speakers.

I had a genuine Nepalese Gurkha kukri when I was a kid, and it had a heavy wooden sheath covered in buffalo hide, like a giant puukko sheath.

Pretty hard to design a good Kukri sheath from kydex…….

Follow up question for Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist

HDFK - Last sold in 2018
SDFK - Last sold in 2022

I've seen you say that the SDFK will be produced again in 2026. Can you mention briefly why you plan to re-visit the SDFK, produced 3 year ago, before re-introducing the HDFK which I think hasn't been sold since 2018, maybe 2019? What changes to the SDFK might you consider, if any? A Signature version with your iconic blood groove comes to mind, a lanyard hole for the signature version? Apologies if the above dates are inaccurate.

I could be wrong, but I thought Nathan mentioned retiring the HDFK pattern (as in; no plans to make them again), as the SSDFK supplanted the HDFK.

When we will see the HDFK revisited... I don't think boss man knows either. He's really got nothing to gain and more to lose by floating a time line he may/may not be able to keep. 🥲.
