The Backwoodsman- I didn't know what I was missing

The airgun article was good.
Pretty much said that you can spend a little OR alot and still end up with something that will get you some food with proper shot placement.

That has been my experience also. I have a Daisy 880 I've had since about 1984 that will still kill a squiirell if I do my part. I also have a Beeman R9 with a 3-9 x32 scope that will quickly kill a rabbit with head shots from 35+yards.

I just recently picked up a Crossman Phantom .22 pellet gun.
Previously i mostly just shot .177.
Dang that Phantom is SOLID.
Heavy too, but in a good way.
Most of the pellet guns i've seen in the past 10 years have been made of flimsy white metal and thin plastic.
The Phantom feels as solid as the old Ruger 10/22 i used to have.
I might have to pick up a .177 phantom and stash away as well.

Great magazine. I've had a subscription for about a year. Excellent articles, and very frank.

After a friend told me about Backwoodsman, I was hooked. On my second three year sub, my next one is about to come up next year. I get Knife World, Blade, soon to get Tactical Knives, I prefer Dan Schectmans writing in BW to that in TK, although I like his work/reviews overall. If you can, pick up the Best of Backwoodsman vol 1 and 2. Most magazines I hold onto, and then give away to family, friends or knife buffs. I am not letting these mags go.

Places I've seen it for sale have been

Dicks Sporting Goods, Walmart (both on the magazine rack and in the sporting goods section), Gander Mountain, Barnes and Noble, Greetings and Readings, the News Center.

Oh yeah, you can write articles in trade for subscriptions or advertising space in the magazine!

I've had a subscription to THE BACKWOODSMAN for years...in fact, it's the only subscription I have! It always has wonderful articles in each issue. It's well worth the price to go ahead and get a multiple-year subscription!
