The bad deal bigmark408

More then likely it was his "stateside" contact. Just" checking" his purchase out before he sent it . Or like Mark said. The peeps doing customs aren't always the finest of "peice" handlers lol

I let bigmark408 know about this thread.

Did you inquire about the condition before you bought the knife?
Yes, I asked about a condition before purchase. bigmark408 has sent many photos on which knife was looked perfectly and has written " Knife never used or carried ". He has not informed that a knife is resharpened after the maker and the knife has light scratches.
I also offered to solve a problem to bigmark408 before making this thread

The knife was in the EXACT CONDITION i purchased it in ! the knife did not have scratches ! How can you expect me to be responsible for several others that handled and shipped it accross the world on your behave. 😂 You are ridiculous. 😱

I'd understand scratches if knife is shipped through US connection but can not imagine some custom employee nice sharpened it :)

I've dealt with and been in the same circles as Mark for years and have never had a issue with him. Good guy in my book. One question, why do you think it's been re sharpened? Because the edge is polished? As for the minute scratches, that looks a lot better than some Stridermarks I've seen and look to be from the shop IMHO..

It was, he was persistent and I was just trying to be honorable, those who really know me know this is true, the peanut gallery that like to take internet pot shots are in every GBU thread. 👍🏻 not you but the few others that have nothing better to do. 😉

Regarding the "peanut gallery", while I visit this forum daily I rarely post in it. Any thread with more than six or seven posts is almost always of the "bad" genre. There are a few certain posters who seem to have made posting in every one of them their life's mission. They never chime in on the "good" threads, only the "bad and ugly".

Ther is a whole other world out there guys, (you know who you are) .

I have had several deals with BigMark- No issues whatsoever. Have even had the occasion to talk to him on the phone. Pretty straight shooter

I would also like to know why the OP believes the blade had been sharpened.

If I had to guess, it would be th high grit finish. Most of these knives don't have a mirror like finish from the manufacturer, from what I've seen.

Ok I've seen the pics and emails and two things are clear. Mark made it clear the sale was final and the edge is visibly polished.

Who or when the edge was polished I can't answer.

Thank you for the notification Rycen.

I will be happy to forward the complete email string of this transaction to Rycen but have no desire to post it here or continue with this thread.

I have been around all the forums for many years and completed hundreds of transactions, I have had a few pissing matches but that has nothing to do with buying or selling , out of several hundreds of transactions anyone is going to have a few that just don't work.

I have pics of a flawless knife I sold this person.

What he is not telling you is that he had me ship to a local California location and then he had it shipped to russia. He also asked after the fact that I not include anything in the package that shows the true purchase price of the knife.

This knife was handled by his U.S. Connection and obviously by customs.

Rycen, please PM me your email and I will forward you the complete string of emails from start to finish.

That's too many hands on a knife to point the finger at the seller with the info in this thread.

I would assume that if you had an $1800 knife shipped to "someone" before it was sent to you, they would verify that it was in the condition you where told it was is?

Russian customs is a roll of the dice. I am curious as to whether there was indication that the package had been opened by customs?

Owned more custom striders than I can even remember. VERY few did not have some type of cosmetic "flaw" if scrutinized hard enough. IMO those scratches are in-line with what my expectations are from custom Striders straight out of Mick's shop. The edge, however, is a different story as I've never had a custom that had a polished edge. In fact, they all have been relatively dull.

I've never done a transaction with either person. Just thought I'd chime in. I too would be upset if I thought a knife had been sharpened that was advertised as "never used or carried."

not sure how you paid but if your unhappy with the knife just start a claim on paypal. easiest way to take care of business. If it was NOT disclosed the knife was sharpened then the original seller lied. That is clearly not a sharpening job done by MSC.... I would know. As for the issue at hand.... The seller has a buyer who clearly believes the knife was misrepresented. Why is a refund not being offered? I think it's totally unreasonable as a seller to basically say sorry your SOL. Bad business.....

So lets say for a moment that Big Mark or the previous owner polished the edge. That makes the knife NOT brand new as it was described to be. I would be pissed if I was buying a collector piece like this only to find it was resharpened in any way. That is misrepresenting your item and should warrant atleast working with the buyer on a possible refund or compensation. I would instantly file for a dispute given how he seems to be handling this

And, we're done here folks. For those concerned with having the last word; that'll be between the buyer and seller...
