The Battle Mistress has ARRIVED!!!!!

OH MY GOD! It's here, It's here, It's here!!!

Upon opening the package and holding it for the first time, I am officially in love with this knife. Grind lines are perfect, fit and finish are flawless and the finish on the blade is VERY smooth and even. It's razor sharp, even sharper than my new Spydie Military was out of the box!!! Great sheath and everything!!!!!

The function testing will come starting with some two by fours as soon as I get home tonight.

WOW WOW WOW

Worth the wait and then some for this much of a kick!

Regards,

Chris Canis

By the way,

Jerry has added a new little twist to the handle design on this knife. He has textured the Micarta with some grooves that make the handle of this knife absolutely secure in your hand. I will try it out with some soapy water but the grooves should address some concerns that some people have had regarding the grip on the BM.

MAN THIS IS A GOOD DAY!

Chris

Who makes the "Mistress". Do you have any pics or can you tell me where I can go on the web to scope out the knife.
Thanks

Busse makes the Battle Mistress. Their website is bussecombat.com.

You can see Jerry Busse's site at

http://www.bussecombat.com

You can see more pictures and a review at:

http://www.survival.com

I don't remember off the top of my head where it is on his site, but if you go to the site map area you will see the review link listed

Having received my INFI Steel Heart a few weeks ago, I have some idea how you feel. What an awesome blade. I have only used mine rather lightly so far, but I do like the grooved grips.
Jumbi, you can start at the source at (trying my hand at UBB here...)

http://www.bussecombat.com

or try a couple of the search engines and see what they kick out. Tactical Knives magazine had a story that partially featured a Busse, or try Ron Hood's Survival site, I believe it's still at

http://www.survival.com

Ron has used several of Jerry Busse's blades, and used them hard in wilderness settings that would probably leave me crying for home. Good luck

Geez, you guys are quick. Here I am fighting with a reluctant server and double posts, and the page finally reloads to find all this help. What a cool Forum.

Great news, Canis! Questions for you:
1. Did you opt for the presentation grade or combat grade version?
2. Did the BM come with the new sheath (same as the Busse Basics line)?
3. How long was your wait time?

-Greg

Canis- Congrats on the best big knife (for the money) that you can own! I am waiting on my Mean Street for a little companion to my BM. Love to hear more after you chop with it.

I opted for the combat grade version. I personally like the black blade (which by the way has not been affected by drawing it from the kydex about a hundred times since receiving it today) The sheath is kydex with a webbing and clip release tie down. It also has an extended webbing belt loop with clip release for wearing the knife lower down on the leg. I am not familiar with the production sheath so I'm sorry that I can't tell you which one I have. As far as wait time goes, I've lost track of the original order date, but Jerry delivered it exactly as he said he would.

Hey Canis, looks like you have the new version sheath. The older one was made completely out of kydex, including the belt loop/clip and it rode a bit high up on the belt. From what you described, it looks to be a really good sheathing system, with, IMHO, the best fixed blade ever.

-Greg

Greg,

I'm wearing the BM right now (despite the glares of disapproval from the wife) and it is indeed a great sheathing system. The blade handle is at the perfect level for my hand to find it with a very natural motion. No fumbling around for the handle. The texturing on the handle is also a great enhancement to the design. I've thought about getting a Mad Dog recently, but after receiving the BM I honestly don't see how it could top the way this knife feels in my hand. I just finished wacking through two old 2X4's and it had absolutely NO impact on the edge at all. You can't even tell I've used it!

True Love!

Chris,
Could you oblige us with some pictures? I'm really curious as to what the new handle grip enhancement looks like. Are the handle patterns regular or random? I almost want to break out my Dremel tool and put in a few jigged patterns on my BM. Hmmm.... Nah!

-Greg

I'll get the digital camera out tomorrow and see if I can figure out how to post pictures of the new handle texture. Maybe if I have a proble, I can email the pic to someone and they can post it for me?

Chris

Chris,
You can email <grnamin@earthlink.net> the pic(s) to me. I can post them in my site and put code pointers to view them here. Looking forward to them.

-Greg

DAMN, How come you get a Battle Mistress and I don't!!!

I have my BLADE calendar up on my bedroom wall, and next month has a HUGE PERFECT picture of the Busse Combat Battle Mistress.....yes, I peeked ahead to next month, but it close and I only flipped one page OK!
NOW I'm jealose.
Imagine how I'll be at the end of next month, as each day I checked of the little box, and gazed into the finish of the BM's blade!!!
Great knife man, and enjoy.

Maybe I can help. My INFI Steel Heart (and to my understanding, all the new Steel Hearts as well) has the same sort of grooves in the handle that Jerry is putting in the Battle Mistresses. Let me try my hand at this UBB stuff again...

Hope this helps.

That's the stuff! Saves me a session with the digital camera! The texturing really does make it feel very secure in the hand.

Slept with it under my pillow last night!
