Ok, I recevied my DogFather, I know it's off topic:rolleyes: as it is not INFI, but I have to say this thing is a beast. It is much more forward weighted than the FBM and the FBMLE. It is much thicker than the FBM and it is also a high Sabre grind for more metal so it is up there in heft. It may weigh less, but not by much, but it definitely has a more chopper balance. In fact I would compare it to my Khukuri in forward balance. Should be quite interesting. Fit and finish were perfect. The edge is thin and severely sharp. I like it a lot.

If there is any negative it is the Choil. I wish it was rounded like all the other offerings.

I'm really anxious to get mine. Looks like it will be my poorman's basic 9. I put my FBM on the block because it was too neutral. Can't wait.

What was the reasonng behind the square choil? I have one on the way but it will take a long time to get here. The sheath looks to be better than I expected fr 19.95 and fits the FBM.

I must agree with Cobalt. 45 minutes in the woods proved it a fine chopper -- with the added advantage of a more comfortable grip. My hand did sweat, but the respirene-C did not become slick.

Since the choil doesn't bother me, I really can't find fault.

Give it a few more months and we'll see if the positive initial impression holds up.

Now someone give us some prying data to make us drool.

I should have mine by Tuesday! Can't wait. Now maybe we'll see an LE made of INFI! ;)

BTW: does anyone know if the RD-9 sheath will fit the DF?

Odd: I went to order the 10" sheath for the DF. To the left there was a small box that said "related items" and showed the DF. I clicked on it and it showed the DF to currently be "In Stock". I am sure this is an error as I hear they are sold out currently. But perhaps someone in the know could let Dan and staff know just in case. They do not need another "over ordering" fiasco as we saw with the SS4.

Mine fits fine in my RD-9 sheath. I have an RD-9 recurve so if anything it's a smaller profile than the DF and they are both happy in the sheath(not at the same time, of course)

Well now,

Not being a big fan of choils, I kinda like the choil on the DF.
It's rounded where my finger rests, and I like the way the edge ends.

The edge on mine was not the greatest, off to the left a little and some grind marks.
No problem, gives me a reason to put my own edge on it :D

I was out chopping on my stump and with the forward weight, it sinks in deeper than the CGFBM.

Well satisfied with it so far.

I did not get the sheath with it, plan on making up a kydex one for it.

Nothing pretty about it, just a pure hard core user.

Mine came stupid-sharp...I shaved quite a patch off my forearm. I like the Res-C but wish they came in a "magnum" size...my paws are just too big.

Cobalt are you the thrower around here? You'll have to let us know how she tosses. :D

Its good to see that they have gotten there edge qc under control , when I got my scrapper 6 the edge was so thick it would not cut anything but after thinning it the scrapper has become my favorite fixed blade.

I like the weight. I like the forward distribution of the weight. It is/will be one heck of a chopper.

The choils works for me and what is really cool is when I choke up and move my grip forward my thumb has found a dip on the top of the blade that fits perfectly :))

I love this knife - I believe she is/will become quite the classic. And will be in demand because everything works so well with her!! :D

thanks for the review, i ordered one but haven't received it yet. post more pics!

The finish on mine is not perfect, has some uneven spots and you can see the metal blade thru the finish on the top in a pinhead sized spot on the top of the blade near the handle (on the point on the top opposite of the choil), one area looks like someone drew on it with a pencil, certainly not up to Busse standards for finish. Not sharp enough to shave or scrape hair off but then again it's not designed to be a razor. For the price, its a good knife, but the one I received does not meet the standards described by others. I tried to add a sheath to my order but didn't receive a reply to my email requesting to add a sheath nor did I get a sheath.

Here are some quick shots - one showing my choke hold....:D

Sure feels great in the hand and again nice forward weight distribution

Scrap yard is going to make a satin finish LE. That's why no one is stripping the CG's.

But I did not know that they were coming out with an LE! Cool
