By now, you may have heard...

GEC #15, Easy Open sheepfoot, caplifter-screwdriver, nickel silver bolster, a bail on the EO end, brass liners, a large shield stamped Beer Scout Knife.

Chestnut sawcut bone, smooth ivory bone, Gabon Ebony, Cocobolo, Sunbrite acrylic, tortoise shell acrylic. And those are just the handle covers we know about.

With a tentative release in late August, is it possible we might see some other variations produced in time for the Rendezvous?

I know we have a lot of brothers and sisters in Pennsylvania, and some of you have good relationships with the folks at GEC... So anyone have any photos? Has GEC made up any drawings? Until then, maybe some of you have your own EO sheepfoot caplifter knives to show off...

Please post your thoughts, photos, news, or even rumors about the now legendary Beer Scout Knife.

Got the info today and all I can say is I am standing in line for smooth bone version. Smooth bone is listed as probable but not 'for sure'.

My info comes from a single source: our forum friend and dealer knifeswapper and his website.

I'm so thirsty. If only I had my trusty Beer Scout!

Ok Scott. Figured it out. Wonder what that shield is gonna look like? Have to be pretty big to accommodate all those words!

I've got my name down for one as "sure", and two additionals as "maybe". I didn't quite understand the listing though. Are these going to be bare ends, or will they have two bolsters? On another note...I don't care much for the big Tidioute shield, but I love the idea of brass liners and EO notch. Brass smells funky, but it looks purdy! :D

PS...do we know if we're getting nail nicks or long pull?

Very late to this process, thank you Scott and the Porch for dragging me into the light ;). Very much looking forward to this.

The shield will probably only say "Beer Scout", cause everyone knows its a knife lol.

lol. I think you're right. Knifeswapper described it as a large Tidioute shield. "Beer Scout" is just a little longer than "Tidioute."

I almost want it to be "beer scout knife" just to see them fit it all on the shield. Haha

Every time I tell myself I don't need anymore knives....... They go and suck me back in!

"Beer Scout" does make sense, Kyle.
I ordered two, the smooth bone and Tortoise acrylic.

I'll bet a dollar that there will be some unique ones at the Rendezvous! That's the way GEC does things.

I'm with you here. I was thinking I could take a break because I'm not into all of the current patterns or the 25's. Now I'm on the hook for at least 4 of these!

From what I gather, these will be bare heads and the shield will most likely just say 'Beer Scout'. I'm pretty amazed that they actually used Beer in the name.

They obviously read this forum. Now that this thread is here, how long will it be till they are all gone by reservation? I just pray that they actually have some tortoise shell by the time production begins.

From the Let's talk GEC! thread:
...Obviously, someone at GEC is reading this forum and trying to tic all the boxes on one single knife.

I hope someone at GEC is watching this thread closely, so they can note, not everyone wants a bail and produce some 15 EO's without one. FWIW

So at least one vote for a version without a bail. I would bet my knife allowance that GEC will, at some point, release the same pattern without the bail. But you could always remove the bail, as I did on my Wenger SAK. And I look forward to seeing some cool lanyards attached...
