The best all around Mora Knife

The laminated blades are very good. The primary use to which I subject my scandi grind knives is whittling and wood working. The Mora 106 is a high performer with its narrow blade.

All you folks using the Companions are you finding the slightly rubberized grip creates hot spots at all? I just checked one out briefly last week and my first thought was that the handle could lead to hot spots or even blisters in periods of long use.

I found the red pain on the No. 1 to be slippery. I got rid of it and grooved the handle slightly for a surer grip when wet.

No, not at all.

I prefer the normal Companion for long carving sessions for several reasons. I wear XL gloves and for hard cutting, the larger palm swell of the HD is more hand filling and gives better control. But overall, I prefer the handle on the plain Companion and it doesn't produce any hot spots. Can't think of a better, more versatile handle that I've used.

In wood, any of the old laminated blades by the various makers are great, the Classic #2 size is probably my favorite size. The older ones and the Classic Laminated versions have full length tangs.
These span from the 1950's to 2012

The capped Moras are really cool IMO!

The Carl Andersson blades are a tad wider/thicker in my experience...especially compared to the new ones.

In plastic, the old (and newer) carbon 510's are hard to beat.

Also the HighQ Craftline and (it's green version) HD Companion are top notch...these are in my Weather/Wildfire bags.

In SS the old KJ Eriksson 545 was a winner (bottom) (New 510, top)

The older SS 546G's were great too (shown with a couple of 510's). They still had the original sexy KJ Eriksson 510 handle but with added finger guard.

I'm also liking the new basic line. Inexpensive and the handles fit my XL size hands perfect
