The Best Discontinued Production Knives

In your opinion, what are some of the greatest mass-market knives made that for some reason are no longer produced? I think that several of the biggest knife companies around have done themselves a disservice by stopping what might be some of their best products ever. Here's my top 3:

3) Benchmade Aphid. A small, inexpensive, ergonomic, EDC knife, which was a true rival to the Mini Griptilian. The Mini Grip is well loved as one of the best knives in its price and size range, and I think this was every bit as good - but at a lesser price. Come back, Aphid!

2) Spyderco Native 3. This one's a little bit of a cheat, because I'm specifically referring to the $30 special that sold retail for a few years. Natives in many different varieties are still available - but you'd be hard pressed to find one at under $75. At $30, the Native was quite simply the best knife money could buy. Slim profile, great steel, great ergonomics, great build quality. At 2, 3, 4 times the price, it's still a good knife, but by no means a no-brainer.

1) Victorinox Voyageur. Everyone knows about Victorinox' iconic swiss army knives, and the metal handled alox versions are some of its best prized. Swiss army knives famously come in endless variety - but get this, since the mid 80s they've stopped making a metal handled one that contains scissors. The Voyageur is the discontinued model, a knife that based on its specs should sell for $25 or less - but is now worth $400 on the used market. Unless you're willing to pay the big bucks you're not getting a metal handle and scissors.

It's funny because I read this and first thing that came to mind was the Victorinox Voyageur. I think they would sell like hot cakes if they made these again. They have been going for well over $200 used lately.

I also wish Mora would go back to the full tang on the whole classic line. It would make rehandle projects simple and add a little peace of mind. For some reason I enjoy seeing the bottom of the tang on my 2/0.

Hmmm kershaw has too manny to count. the only one I own at the moment is an avalanche though, full titanium liners, G10, 440v, liner lock, etc. the MSRP was $120 in 2000.

If I could buy natives at that price, I'd buy three right now.

The current native will be rotated out soon. I have high hopes for the native 5 lightweight though.

It seems like all the benchmades I'm really interested in are discontinued. Ruckus, ares, afck, lots.

They are still available, but Benchmade has decided to discontinue the Bone Collector series :( I know some didn't like all the logos, but the blades were great.

I always wanted a Spyderco ATR, those have been gone for a while though.

The original Spyderco Persian. I have one that rides in my pocket every day and I'd like to get a few more just to have. I realize they still make a version but it's not nearly as good looking a knife as the original.

Buck 120 keeps going in-and-out of production; it's mostly been on the out side for decades. The most recent release had some useless etch covering the entire blade face. "Hunt Fair Chase." What the heck does that even mean?

The most useful Victorinox model, I actually need it for work, is the Stylus. It's been discontinued for years, and there's no alternative or replacement model.

I still can't wrap my head around the fact that Schrade no longer makes Old Timer knives. Those were an American standard for over 40 years.

Im going to say the ZT MUDD. I've never handled or even seen one in real life, but I already know I want one. The gasket-sealed pivot and cool lock with full un-skeletonized liners and flow-through design really makes me want one.
I'm sure someone can post a picture of the ones they have to make me jealous.

Benchmade 725 Kodiak -

.

They were an awesome design for a general purpose outdoor knife.

I'd like to see some of the vintage Al Mar models put back into production, I keep hoping that perhaps they might come back as limited edition or something.

The Victorinox ALOX Soldier. I know you can get the Pioneer (and I did, in black) but it's not the same for whatever reason.

BM42, BM630, Buck/Strider 880

The Hossom fixed blade Spydercos. And the BM Ruckus, Kershaw 3600 Volt, Lonewolf Harsey T-series.
