The Best fake yet

Exactly, don't support ripoff artists. As my uncle likes to say "buy American, the job you save may be your own..."

Oh, man. First post, and was hoping it would be a better one. I got large Sebenza off of ebay. Are the boxes a key indicator of a fake? Some of these fakes are sadly great looking. I have birth cert (?), a blue cloth, and a box with a 2000-2001 "Blade Manufacturing" award sticker, a blue Chris Reeve sticker, a warning not to cut myself, and, lastly, and allan wrench. The box does not have that "China" feel to it. Nice forums folks!

Go ahead and buy these knives but remember every one you buy you loose some one here a job and one day it could be yours. What I cannot understand is why they have copy, design there own knives or are they too stupid.

Fakes dont come with birth card nor original looking box.

If they can fake the knife uncomfortably well I think the box and birth card would not be a problem.

That was exactly my concern. I have learned a quick lesson pain free and I count myself lucky. $100.00 more in my "gun and knife fund", and I will have the money to afford a Sebenza myself. While they do cost a bit more, I look at it just like good hand tools. Buy right and buy once. I can't always afford a Snap-On ratchet, but I can put effort into buying a U.S. made tool. We owe it to our neighbors. The factory that made Plomb brand hand tools is now a warehouse for imported Chinese toys.

Probably much easier to just counterfeit a good design / a well known product. Easy money.

Espnazi, have you heard anything more about those regular fakes? After getting a real Sebenza, the fake in the first post doesn't look anything like the real thing, but the ones in the pictures are a little worrisome. I can't see them becoming that common if they cost almost as much as the real thing, but if those fakes really are around $60 there are probably a lot more people that would be willing to buy them.

They arrived and I sent one of the two to Haze 6 days ago(should receive it in a few more days).

In all honesty for the price I'm extremely impressed, although you can definitely tell it is not a CRK(once in your hand). The only downside is that the detent is a bit of the weak side. Steel has held up extremely well and in all honesty it seems very similar to D2 which is what they claim. I still have some reservation about the steel and think it is probably a high end chinese steel with a good HT, possibly 9CR18MOV.

The seller tells me the detent issue has been solved in the second batch. The maker only makes about 50-100 of a particular model in a run.

Lastly, after some thought, although not totally morally correct what the maker does I don't mind owning this knife. Specifically because it doesn't have the CR name nor logo anywhere. I will probably order some more. Also, this will not keep me from buying high end knives from OEM makers.

I will try to take some pictures as soon as my brother is back from his trip(he has my camera).

Interesting... I'll be curious to see the pictures and other impressions. It's a good thing that they didn't add the CRK logo, but what I find troubling is that this knife shows that they have the potential to make a fake that CRK collectors wouldn't be able to tell from the original just by looking at the photos. If they're good quality, though, I'd think that they'd be able to build a successful business with their own original designs.

Forgot to mention one sign that could easily distinguish the knife, apart from the missing logo is the spine of the titanium slabs have some ridges along it. I think this was done intentionally but not sure.

The Regular did have ridges along the ridges but was later dropped.

My Small Regular, circa 2004, has the ridges, but I don't know when they stopped doing them.

the fakes sure are getting harder to spot, any one do any more checking up? aliexpress has some shocking fakes
