The Best fake yet

I would think that the birthcards are even easier to fake. There are plenty of pics of them around. Looks like my ebay buying days for knives are pretty much over unless I knew the seller.

I guarantee you that if someone put these up for sale on any aftermarket here in the States, for say $300, they would be gone in a flash. I can't say that I would be able to tell the any difference until I got the thing in hand myself. Dammit. :grumpy:

Would I be an *sshat to say I'd like to have one of those if it was the same size & feel as a lg regular and decent blade steel for only $50 or so? Thats a $350+ savings! The only dealbreaker would be if had CHINA stamped on it.

A giveaway is no CR logo on handle by pivot, no lanyard and probably so markings on the inside of the handles to indicate year and whatever else the mark implies - right? Any other dead giveaways?

No rocks, bricks or knife throwing. :p

You can tell there clearly fakes in the video. The edge didn't roll after he cut that paper.

I won't throw anything other than a thought; imagine the price savings you'll see when they start making Hinderer knock-offs. Perhaps you should ask the same question to Rick or Rob as to how they would feel about someone wanting to buy a Hinderer knock-off, as they probably aren't that far down the road.

I doubt that. It would be impossible to fake such a perfect creation as a Hinderer knife. :p

Well i can tell you this much, i wouldn't buy any Chris Reeve off of ebay without a birth card. I would have to be very familiar with the seller...ie from the forums or long time seller with good feedback.

I`m pretty sure that it would be fairly easy to copy the birth card.

Yes it would be pretty easy to copy a birthcard, but it would give the most avid CRK fan that little something extra to decide if it's real or not;)

I'm not seeing too many fake knife pictures out there next to the fake birth cards(yet)

Well at least these dont have the the CR logo.
A pic the seller sent me:

Have you asked him for blade steel type, OAL and Blade length, finish, and ti construction? Lock up shots would be interesting on this faker.

Wow, there really making the Regular fakes and they should eben have higher quality than "Chibenza"(the 21 knock-off)?!

Uhh... I had the Chibenza in my possesion for about three weeks. I know the guy, who tested it. No chemical analysis, so it was impossible to confirm it´s D2, but according to him, Chibenza really has 61 HRC. The edge holiding was perfect, resharpening on ceramic stones was no pain (it sliced hair lenghtwise then)... For sure, no bushing in the pivot, at first it was very difficult to open the blade (after lets say 500 openings it started to go very well - I believe the ball detent needed to smoothen). One washer is teflon, but you get spare bronze washer with the knife, so you can change the teflon washer for the bronze immediately...Lock up rock solid, the end of the framelock is heat-treated for sure (it is visible even at the pics, they heat-treated the titanium after they sandblasted the handles, so the framelock is black and dirty)... The handles are TC4 Titanium and are smoother than in the original Sebenza 21... Overall the knife is superbly made, the quality is very very high. It beats the more expensive knives like SP Military, Bradley Alias, or anything up to 250 USD for sure. I cannot imagine, how can they improve the knock-off furthermore and stay at these low prices.

Just that you understand me - I bought the Chibenza for curiosity, at first I thought, that I´m gonna keep it, because especially for the money you pay, it´s amazing knife. But I sold it, I´m gonna likely spare money for years and buy original (I had the Classic version, but had to sold it to contribute for paying for my school fees) than to have perfectly made knife, that looks veeeeeeeery similar to Sebenza and acts almost like Sebenza, but it´s not Sebenza.

this fake "Chibenza" is really good ,and its only 70$,but its illegal in china . anybody sells knifves or carries knifves will be detained for fifteen days .

to be honest, I'd buy one. I mean come on, a 300-500 dollar for a regular folder I could lose or damage while in use? not worth it!

That's the cool part of higher end folders though - using them and experiencing what a superior folder feels like. I would NOT blow $70 on one of those duds. If I couldn't afford a Sebenza I'd get an Endura 4 or something like that. $70 will buy a lot of folding knife if you shop around. I say don't support the Chinese rip off companies if you can help it. YMMV
