How many people are banned from this thread ? Just to calculate the error margin :)
Oh and just to add, removing a small number of people that spam the thread doesn’t impact the survey as much as you think it does. If you would like me to educate you on how surveys work in the real world, feel free to PM me. No need to continue to flex your “survey muscles” here for clout.

Looks like Spyderco is dominating. Good brand for sure but I’m truly surprised ZT didn’t make the final round.
The surveys are a reflection of the participants. It’s just a small sample of the BladeForums participants that happen to see it and chose to vote. I’m not surprised to see Spyderco dominating, but CRK surprises me as I didn’t know so many people owned their knives. They are quite pricey and small in selection. Perhaps just a cultural reflection of the forum (this might be a place a lot of CRK fans congregate).

I voted CRK even though I only own one of their models, because I like it more than anything made by the other brands here. So for me the small selection doesn't matter.

There's definitely a lot of CRK people around here. I would think Spyderco and Benchmade might be hurt by the fact that each company has their own forum and so that's where the hardcore fans go instead of here, but Spyderco certainly doesn't seem to be hurting.

I went with Spyderco, just because as a basic level playing field, I wanted to choose a company that pretty much has safety and design as the forefront of their offerings. Thats not to say that it’s not a close call, all of these companies pretty much have that covered. Then I considered variation- out of all the options I’d say cold steel has the most variation, but the recent buyout has me concerned with after purchase support. Second to that I’d say Spyderco has the most different models available at any given time. They have pretty good customer support, and obviously they design for use first and foremost.

I’d say you’d be hard pressed to find a company that has just about every desireable trait- classic, contemporary, innovation, support- I don’t they’re necessarily my champion brand, but I do think Spyderco has a little more of each than the other brands.

Spyderco for me. I own more Spyderco than anything else.

Cold Steel was a close 2nd for me.

I would probably put BM in 3rd and Buck a close 4th.

Hinderer and CRK are out of my price range tbh. $150 is my self imposed limit.

The top 10, based on my collection:

1) Spyderco - folders/balis/autos/fixed blades (150)
2) Kershaw - mostly pre-2010 "vintage" folders/autos/fixed blades (60)
3) ZT - mostly pre-2010 "vintage" folder/autos/fixed blades (39)
4) CRKT - only folders (13)
5) Benchmade - only autos/balis (8)
6) Gerber - only pre 1990 "vintage" daggers (7)
7) Cold Steel - only folders (5)
8) ProTech - 3 autos, 1 folder (4)
9) Brian Tighe, Buck & Lionssteel - folders/autos (3@)
10) Artisan Cutlery, Brous Blades, Fox, Glock, Ka-Bar, Olamic & Ontario - only folders (2@)

Owned 2 Hinderers - sold them both - and looked at but never, ever seriously considered buying a CRK.

Too expensive. Better values elsewhere. I have a $500 max limit on any knife purchase. No CRK I ever saw (new or used) ever qualified.

BTW, I do own a few knives that are currently valued at over $500 but that's NOT what I paid for them.
