Things always happen for a reason.
I like the "old" Schrade shield better! It's kismet.

I'm already in for one. I'd say:

A. The Schrade shield looks great and has a cool story.
B. You've put so much work into this and have more than earned the right to make executive decisions around here. Many of us would be fighting for the right to be the first guy to defend you if anyone ever disagreed with a design decision you make on an SFO you have a part in.

Talked to Wally this morning! I was up at 4:15 Pacific time (7:15 Eastern)!
He is greatly relieved that he can now proceed, and will punch out the shields in-house.
We will both sleep better tonight.
Thanks for all the strong and emphatic support!!
You are a great bunch!!!
I know you mostly would support an executive decision, but this is your knife, your project. I am just one in a string of agents, so I feel better that you take part in all of it!!
I am going to take a nap now!!
:D

Well, I'm late to the party but I did want to say the change in shield is ok with me. The connection to Schrade is too cool to pass up.

The more I think about it, this is a huge positive in my opinion. A shield with a story is better than any shield.

I'd imagine if this was in the original choice Wed probably have chosen it to start with.

I'm glad everyone likes the new/old version, and I think the Schrade connection is extra special!

ONE question I have from the images of those installed, they appear to be fairly proud of the covers, will Wally and crew have them more flush than those???

Shields are traditionally done slightly proud & domed on jigged bone handles. I'm sure CSC will make them nice and flush for the smooth wood covers on the forum knife.

Gary, they'll be flush on the forum knives. Sorry about the hiccup folks, I thought I'd picked one that could be easily reproduced. Never considered all the corporate musical chairs that perpetually takes place around us. If I'd have known about this shield tool I'd definitely have put it up, just never noticed it amongst the cobwebs! :D

Charlie that Hawbaker! oohlala!!
