Actually the new shield (Schrade) resembles more like a bomb, now that we have both side-by-side to compare. I am perfectly okay with the change, and honestly appreciate the new shield option better than the previous one.

Wally at CSC has been trying to get our small bomb shields made, but cannot find anyone to do them in a timely fashion.
(It was an odd Shield that Eric pulled out of an archival box.) The reliable old company Wally used to contract shields and dies has changed hands very recently and will not make them! He is trying elsewhere, but we may have to use a substitute! (Groan!!!!)

Here is what Wally proposes:
He has this old die set from his Schrade days (nice historical element!) and can go ahead with it if we O.K. it.
Similar size and shape . . . . . . .

Here are some actual installations in old Schrades that I managed to dig out:

If we agree with this, we keep the connection to the "real" Schrades of old, so it seems to fit what we do here, but it's up to you all!

Way cool. I'd like to see some new knives made with the die. That would make a cool thread. :thumbup:
 
Glad you made the decision to go ahead with the new "old" shield. It will look great on the knife.
 
This is actually a great turn. Even though I (really, really) wanted the bowtie shield, the historical Schrade attachment really knocks this one out of the park!

I was more of a bow tie over bomb guy, but I like this one. Thanks to whoever linked this thread in the purchase thread also. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise.

My thoughts too. I rather see the second runner in the vote tally since the first can't be done.

That's actually what voting is truly about. Yes, things happen but you have the extensive vote for numerous candidates as the fall back. Else way even bother with the vote.
 
Perhaps I'll be the only naysayer, but it has been less then 24 hours since this bomb dropped. If you really want to know others' thoughts, perhaps you ought wait a bit to see what other thoughts are proffered. There realty hasn't been that many unique posters posting there thoughts on this topic. May be this thread ought to be a sticky and open for a few days. I mean, consider how long the shield vote stayed open then in less than 24 hours another decision is being made. Seems rushed.

I agree actually. I would prefer we went with the second place vote, but I am also good with the choice given here to speed it up. I would be fine with no shield honestly

I had originally voted for the bowtie but would have voted for this old Schrade bomb over the bowtie if it had been an option so please retract my bowtie vote and add it to the short bomb option. :)

I wish I had more hands, so I could give that shield four thumbs up!!
 
Completely missed this thread until now. I like the Schrade related shield. I originally voted for the bowtie, but have grown to much prefer the current option.
