The best Tactical/Combat folder for under $250.00 is???

The Zero Tolerance ZT 0200...No good reason to look for anything else.:).

@ AR fan
"Yes, ZT 300 is very good, but anyway, not all Gerbers are "junk" :)

I have to agree. Comparing anything Gerber to ZT is bad, but as you say, not all Gerbers are bad. I know the 06 auto is actually a somewhat decent folder, but the ZT is still better!:D:thumbup:

The Benchmade Rukus is great recommendation as is the Benchmade Skirmish 630, can't go wrong with either.

For one thing your Dalton would most likely be confiscated by your First Shirt or Commander about 5 minutes after you got of the plane, (your first shake down Insp.) That's unless your attached to a FOB.

Erp , sorry for being a n00b, but why would the Dalton be confiscated in a military inspection?

I have a friend that carries that auto Gerber around and it stands up well to routine military/field use. I'm not sure what model it is but it's damn solid and def worth checking out.

Oh yeah, and my vote goes to my Spyderco Manix but that's because I just got it. I also like the griptilians ( I have one in M2 that's held up great) and those ZT 0200's look great too.

Tactical folder is kind of an oxymoron in a military sense. I like good tactical folders because they tend to be solid, well made, weight efficient, and easy to deploy. A big fixed blade would be much better for combat but even that's pretty unlikely. Folders are only likely to see normal cutting tasks and chores. 99.9% of military use is cutting tape, boxes and 550 cord. A lot of guys abuse their blades by prying with them and pretending they are screwdrivers and whatnot so maybe for them the ideal folder would be something cheap enough to be essentially disposable. Some units issue some pretty nice knives and you see a lot of auto Benchmades around for that reason.

edit:
What kind of, ahem, person would confiscate a soldier's Emerson in a combat zone? I've never heard of anything like that happening. I guess for that matter if there was any chance of getting it confiscated what kind of soldier would let a commander or "first shirt" find it? What the hell is a first shirt? Marines?

I'm not going to argue with Highplains and Allex or any other wannabee mall ninga out there.
Unless you've been there you have no idea of the way it is. It depends on your command structure. In some units otf's aren't minded at all, (I think I already told you that).
It reminds me, in some ways of Viet Nam, (Politics).
First shirt, for all you mall ningas, is nick for First Sergeant.
I'm tired of answering questions, only to have my word questioned by a bunch of Unknowing ,(Bleeps). AR

Chances are that if someone on the bladeforums is not in (or hasn’t been in) the military then they probably will not know the acronyms used by those in the military. If not serving in the military makes you a mall “ninja” then you’re probably going to find a whole bunch of “ninja’s” giving their opinions on knives here.

If you have in fact served our country in the military I for one thank you.

Grapeshot, Emersons ???, I don't remember including them. I'm talking OTF's standing up to inspection scrutiny. I remember some recruits trying like he!! to figure out where to hide their's. AR

KLJTech, yes I have. (Since I graduated high school). Thank you very much. It's almost startling, to have someone thank you for your service.
That's the first time, since I retired that anyone has thanked me over the internet.
God Gless, AR
