I think the khukri shape is what messes me up, I’m not a fan of the angle the blade hits whatever I’m chopping, I do a lot of straight-down type chopping (more like what you do with an axe) and the straight edge and heft of the 20 really feels super comfortable and doesn’t fatigue me. The 21 always seemed to roll in my hands whenever I tried chopping, and that always fatigued me and worried me more than I would want out of a chopper.

I also baton firewood, shave curls off for tinder, and do all sorts of other big knife stuff when I’m out camping and I find the 21 is harder to use as a solo do-everything blade whereas the 20 just blows through whatever task I want.

I have your same experience, except with the 21! I like the kukri shape and can chop, baton, and even do some fine whittling with it.

I've owned lots of big blades and choppers and the one that comes out on top for me is the 1311. Perfect weight, balance, edge geometry, and it bites DEEP! Resiprene is about impossible to slip out of your hand as well.

Didn't you reprofile the edge of the 21 though?
