The Blade-O-Leer is HERE!!!

Thanks to GRNamin's creativity and some helpful pointers from Jerry Busse, GRNamin is ready to start making Blade-O-Leers for YOUR Busse Combat Knife...some pics of his first official order are below...my E-Bolo Variant...it works GREAT.

It can be worn across the front of the body, right or left handed, tip down, tip up.

OR...as I like to call it, New York Style!!!!...which is across the back, tip up, right handed or left handed...in fact, I wore it under a pack when leaving his place, (which Greg DOES NOT recommend due to poor comfort and potential injury, let alone the legal problems), but I just wanted to see if I could sneak it past him...he did not know I was wearing it until we got to the parking lot of his residence and he asked "...HEY, where is your knife? Did we leave it upstairs?" No Way Greg!!!!

Pricing is $75 + $7.95 shipping/handling and Greg accepts PayPal!!! Direct your orders to grnamin@earthlink.net

Hey, looks like truly a Kool Kydex Kreation! Has anyone considered an optional (and perhaps removable) belt loop just below the handle? I have been considering a "high ride" belt sheath. I realize I can't just add a loop to the nylon sheath that came with my SHII, but with hard leather or Kydex, I think it's practical.

For long pistols or large knives, I favor a high crossdraw, maybe raked just a bit. I know that not everyone likes carrying weight on a belt, though. I'm thinking of the very versatile plastic sheath that came with the CRKT "Stiff KISS" that I bought for my daughter. It may be feasible to add a belt loop that makes the Blade-O-Leer even more versatile.

As always, just my hyperinflated 2 cents worth...

Thanks very much for the post, Andy, and to Jerry for all the helpful tips! Lane, the Blade-o-leer is fully modular such that a belt loop can be part of the options package, including, but not limited to, cross draw, and right or left hand carry.

It should also be noted that in the pic, I have the straps in a configuration which Greg did not intend, though it does work....an unintentional, but workable configuration...

The main strap from tip to handle is SUPPOSED to be worn (for a right handed person, New York Style), around the left shoulder, cascading down the back and chest from a 10:00 to 4:00 position...with the support strap coming from the middle of the sheath and engaging the main strap 8:00 to 2:00...almost like a traditional archery back quiver. The right shoulder and chest should be free from any strapping...

However, in my compulsion, I just slapped the thing on in whatever way I could and it still worked!!! Greg made this thing idiot proof, as evidenced by my hyperactive attempt at being cool.

Hey BladeChucker...how about wearing one of these the next time you go exer-walking with AmyJ???

That sounds great. I assume that with the modular concept belt loop option, I could carry my Busse crossdraw and pistol strong side, or Busse strongside with a cavalry twist-draw and my pistol crossdraw, or whatever suited my fancy, right? You've about sold me on the idea. What else can I think of to ask.....?

Have you given consideration to attaching to web gear? Will that belt loop attach to a standard width web belt?

Just to help me visualize how far the sheath extends -- is the knife in the pictures the more slender fighter variation of BM?

Will you be offering the Blade-O-Leer for the SHII?

If this turns out to be a big success, with you try colors, like Wegener and the Blade-Tech holster guys? Just curious.

How's it looking so far? What is typical time between order and delivery?

All the Best. Happy Carrying,

Lane

Glad to see you back here, Aubrey. Lane, I have a modular option using 2" seat belt webbing or a stiffer nylon webbing (user preference). The assembly will allow the user to secure the webbing onto the belt without removing it from one's pants or removing ammo pouches or other accoutrements from one's pistol belt. You'll be able to remove the belt attachment assembly and move it to the other side, thus enabling ambidextrous carry. I can pretty much make a sheath out of any of the colors that Blade-Tech sells. I also use Tek-Loks. There are a myriad of Kydex colors available as well. Only catch with Kydex is that I can only get them in 4'x8' sheets as a minimum order. I guess I would need a batch order of sheaths to come in navy blue or international orange, for instance. If I receive a knife by a Friday, I can make the sheath over the weekend and ship it back out the following Monday. My current limit is 4 to 5 large sheaths per weekend.

Hey, grnamin, that's pretty impressive. I understand about colors, if you have to order 4'x8' sheets. Black is cool. So is OD, for that matter.

Do you need the knife shipped out there and back, if it's a standard design? Is the BM or the SHII something you have samples of within reach?

You have gotten me thinking outside the (Busse) box, though. Hmmm... custom for any knife... What do I have that really needs a great sheath????

I remember a hot pink holster and magazine holder that Blade-Tech had on the table at a show (just to show they could do colors). It was pretty flashy; now I'm waiting to see..... Ahhh, never mind...

Lane

I'll need the knife in order to custom mold it in the kydex/concealex for a better fit. I don't have any standard models with me right now. If I get the knife by a Friday, it'll ship back out by the following Monday. Yes, having sheaths made for other knives is encouraged.

That makes sense, Greg, much as I hate to admit it -- or further enrich USPS or United Pilfering Service. If there are any production variations, you know you have an exact fit when you use the knife destined for the sheath.

In the past, I've shied away from "plastic" for holsters, but it's catching on. Very versatile -- magazine holders, flashlight holders, etc. Almost makes me wish I was abouit 3,000 miles closer to your shop, so I could hang around an experiment --- almost...

The rig can be adjusted for underarm carry. I would suggest that such a setup be reserved for smaller knives with a blade length no more than 7". Such a rig is really James Piorek's realm. He makes some of the best underarm rigs I've ever tried out.

Lane, the solution to your dilemma would be to get two knives.

One to keep and the other to send for a sheath.

Greg's work is impeccable...very attentive to detail, excellent fit and finish. He hand tunes them for high performance.

It should also be noted that Greg has extensive military and skydiving experience...nuff' said.

If you need a synthetic sheath that will retain your blade, or for a specific carry mode, he will make it better than most...

Let's show him some support and help him with his career change!!!

Greg, you are SUCH a great salesman! Is Andy in on this?

Right now, I'm trying to figure out if I'll survive just buying another sheath. Wives don't always understand about good knives and the occasional need for more than one sheath. Sara looked pretty scary when she was holding my Steelheart and carrying on about how much it cost...

Hey Lane....

Just remind her that the $300+ could have been burned up in about 3 weekends at the local pub...

I know people who Easily blow $100+ per weekend at the bars,, and not even think about it..
These same people laugh about the money I spend on knives...LMAO..

You got that right, Normark! I'm really glad we don't hang out in bars. Yeah, I know a few that blow a good chunk of every paycheck.

The money I spent on my Steelheart is "still here." I can just put it on my table at a show, and the money will appear. Not so for used beer...
smile.gif

BTW, I noticed part of the disclaimer at On/Scene Tactical said there was a no refunds policy for rigs that violate laws. How does a carrying rig violate laws?

Just curious,
