• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

The Bolo Machete Project.

Nice work, Lefty. I never thought of a wood machete sheath. Don't know why, swords and khukuris have used them for years.

Thanks for the compliments guys - maybe I shouldn't get a better camera after all, lol

Murdok, IIRC the tang continues along the spine to the butt then follows the handle contour of the butt and along the palm is about 3/4 of the blade's width.
Hope that makes sense !
Looking at the handle, you can see they use a solid block of wood with a sawcut to make room for the blade. I looked around for the profile I traced while the scales were off, but no luck. The shop's a bit of a pit at the moment though, so it might turn up. I'll look again tonight while I'm down there.
And yes, it is assembled dry (no adhesives) and the rivets do the work.

Horn Dog, the traditional 'limitations' of wood become almost irrelevant when epoxy and glass are thrown into the mix. The two go together like beer and pizza (I say that as I finish the last slice...)
