The Boss Jack has landed! Now sharper than ever.

Cool Ank :)

Thanks

I have used most of the Nikons before, I switched from Canon back in the Film days to Nikon because of the lenses. I had a A1 and F3 that I used to use and after my A1 was wasted I just stayed with Nikon from then on.

Guys guys.... keep in mind, I know NOTHING about cameras or photography.

I can't afford 1k to drop on a camera right now, considering my current digi cam is 120 dollars! What would you get for around 500?

very nice knife !! i can't wait to get a production model !! hey Jerry, when is that mid size blade being added to the mix on your site? :D

You can get a Nikon D3000 with a 18-55mm VR lens for under that now on Amazon.

Thanks ank! You guys were confusing me, as I literally know NOTHING about cameras at all! Any beginner crap I should know?

Read the quick start maunal once you get it and shoot on AUTO until you get used to it then you casn start messing with the setting after that. :D

Also read this and it will tell you a bunch. :D

Personally I would go for the D5000 as it is a better camera and I think you would be more happy with it, it's a little more money, but a much better camera while still being pretty cheap.

Also always buy a spare battery when you get the camera, you will also need a SD memory card.

"It has the same 12.3 image sensor that is found in the E-P1 and E-P2, which produces the same quality in this camera as it did those. You are basically getting DSLR image quality out of a more compact design with full-time live view. The sensor is the same physical size that is found in Olympus’ DSLRs like the E-620 and E-30. So, I mean it when I say “DSLR image quality.”"

Haven't used any Olympus camera since the 80's so I really can't say.

I know their film cameras were really very good, I had an OM-10 that I used a lot as my beat around camera. :)

I have never used it. I think Lunde is familiar with it or a similar model. I believe one of his coworkers has something like it. You may want to PM Lunde.

I also know that one of the guys on here uses and Olympus, maybe Peppercorn??? Whoever it is I always remember loving their results.

Good luck :)

I will venture to guess that most any camera these days can take a decent shot. It is more about knowing how to use the camera, arranging proper lighting, and compose a shot that determines the results.

Nice! You will be able to get wonderful results.

I would look into a 50 1.8 nikkor. Really sharp, great for portraits on a DX sensor and it will get you great closeups. All for a very affordable price and very light and compact.

I have one and it is the sharpest lens I own. It is a very old "Made in Japan" version. I would think the new ones would still be as nice:thumbup:

Here is a link to a few http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=NIKON 50 1.8&N=0

Here is what I have been using on my D3s http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/585343-USA/Nikon_2180_AF_S_Nikkor_50mm_f_1_4G.html

It works for knife pics in a pinch:)

I think you will be happy with the 18-55 though:D
