Came in today. Very cool blade, I like it a lot. Smaller than I had envisioned, but no disappointments here. Sorry for the crappy indoor photos:

So seeing the two side by side, I'm not seeing much reason why KA-BAR can't reissue the Brute since it's not that much bigger.

And after seeing them side by side, I feel pretty content with my BK9.

Awesome blade! I would buy one of these in a heartbeat if Kabar produced them. Any idea what the notch in the spine is there for? I don't like the look of the notch but if it has a purpose I could live with it.

Thanks guys. It's kind of funny, I have skinny fingers, but an extra wide hand. Also, that's not how I would hold a knife using it. If I did, I would have to turn my hand under to get the sharp edge down, haha. I was just holding it like that for the photo. I believe 1066vik has bigger hands than I do. He can get 3 fingers on the handle, about 3 and a half for me.

Sort of a thumb groove, I guess.
