The Brute Has Landed

That thing is awesome Warrior! I can't wait to see some outdoors and in use pictures.

I don't think I would pay out the nose for one on the secondary market, but I would buy one if Kabar rereleased the Brute.

Come on Kabar, what's the hold up?

Thanks man, it really is. I asked the tooj about it one time, and he told me it was for political reasons, but didn't go into detail, and I didn't ask.

there's something about a brute...

that just makes me keep mine in a drawer :D

Great looking blade shape. Is it as thick as the BK2 or is it thinner stock. It has a fitting name.

It is a beast. I wanted to go out and baton with it a few nights ago for a fire, but it was too windy.

Actually, I wanted one since the first I saw one, but now, seeing it next to the 9, I think I can live without one. I still think it's a sexy beast, mind, but I've lost the "ganas". Maybe because I know that I will not pony up the cost of ownership, or maybe because I can be happy with what I already have. I'm glad that you've got one, Dubz. And I'm still looking forward to some action shots.

Never realized how bad I wanted one til I saw your pics there Dubz.
It's freakin' cool man, I shit you not. I've always thought they were cool looking. I read all the stuff about how a 9 is a better chopper, etc, but this thing is bad ass. I did think they were a bit bigger than they are, but still awesome. I like that it's already a user too. I would have a hard time using one that isn't.

Looking forward to using it.

How much are these going for on the aftermarket? It looks like someone sharpened the top edge on that one. I have a Camillus that I stripped, thinned the edge profile and hand convexed. Then I got a H.I. khukri and the Brute has been pretty much keeping company with an old C.S. Carbon V Trailmaster in the safe.--KV

Depends on what kind of shape it's in, etc. We're really not supposed to discuss how much a blade is worth here, iirc.

When I first held the Brute at E's, I asked which blade it was because for a knife to be named "the Brute," I had assumed it would have been bigger. Definitely not a chopper but I dug the aesthetics and the feel. I am also a fan of the squared off section over the belly, gives it a nice baton "target."

Same here Ark. I felt it would be bigger. I don't think I thought it would be huge, just bigger than it is. But you're right though, the aesthetics are kick ass.

Glad to see that it arrived. A little history: You can likely claim that Brute as having gone the furthest north of them all, unless there are some in Alaska.

It chopped the wings off grouse\ ptarmigan and it kept me feeling a bit safer with sharpening the swedge.... I had no guns up there. It freaked me out to be alone miles from the community and seeing fresh bear and wolf tracks (I still have the wolf track pics somewhere, they are quite large). We were warned to stay close to the community by the locals because a pack ejected wolf was seen skulking around. Anyway, right or wrong, it made me feel safer on many levels. Protection\fire\shelter etc. I remember making a spruce shelter with it once. I found it to be a moderate chopper but its weight helped a bit, particularly with live wood. And as you can see the possibilities of breaking it while battoning are pretty slim. I still enjoy and appreciate my other Beckers but the old girl had to go. I've been moving toward smaller and or lighter F.B.'s in the last year or two. Sorry about the grivory mess, I know that it is too rough. I had micarta on it. Maybe you can sand the grips down. It is now yours to do with as you will. If you get tired of it, maybe you can sell or trade it off. Have a good day sir.

Very cool man. I have some grips coming in, but am gonna sand these down. Thanks again brother, really appreciate you doing this.
