The Brute Has Landed

Glad you got it buddy, looking forward to more Brute posts. There don't seem to be enough of these out there anymore.

Couple spine shots compared to the 9. I like the thickness of the 1. More like holding a BK2.

This thing is so freakin' bad ass. Have hardly set it down since I got it. My son was over earlier tonight. He loved it.

Thanks man. Be nice to get some outside shots of it. We have a decent night, I'm gonna do some batonning with it, get a fire going. Hell, it's 32° right now, but my firewood is soaked.

Bring some of it inside overnight and let it dry for tomorrow. I believe they're calling for high 40's here and sunny today.

Good point. 48° here tomorrow, 36° tomorrow night. Sounds like a plan. Still snow around my fire pit, but, wth.

Thanks Nathan.

It's a sexy blade ain't it? I didn't put mine down for a few weeks. Just a heavy son of a gun tho.

Sexy as can be. I don't find it too heavy though. Maybe after using it for awhile.

I'm not complaining. Haha. It's called the Brute for a reason!! But yea after you use it for a while and then pick up the 4 or 9, you will notice the difference. That's the main reason I lightened my by tapering the tang.

Yeah, big difference compared to the 9's weight. On a side note, I'm used to, or at least was used to, heavier tools. I used to work at a plastics factory, in blow mold. Everyone would use a little brick hammer to get the flash off. When you make a sump pit, there's heavy flash. I used a 40oz ball peen hammer the entire shift. To me, it was easier. They would use that little hammer, tink, tink, tink. Eff that, I wanted it off in a coupla whacks, haha. I tore most of my garage down using an 8 lb sledge, a lot of times one handed. It was just easier to get to tighter places that way.

Then you'll have no problem with it. Man I wish they would reintroduce that blade. It really is something.
And I chopped up our Christmas tree using the brute and the bk-5. Just to compare. Both did well but it's amazing how one is lighting fast and the other is like a wrecking ball.

A re-intro would be awesome, but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen.

Thanks guys. I lucked out on this one. upnorth is a good dude.

That thing is a beast! You must be psyched!

Are you going to keep the scales or swap them to micarta?

Have some grivory being sent to me. I'm gonna leave this one alone for awhile, then later, perhaps I'll get some wood scales and strip it. Not sure really. I had micarta once, that came with the BK10LE. Can't say I cared for it too much.
