The Buck wish list thread

Well my sample size is very small, but ironically, the only auto i've ever had deploy in my pocket, was a Benchmade. I had the safety off because it was quite frankly an annoyance, seemed silly to defeat the purpose of a one-hand opening knife to have to drag out of my pocket and use both hands to pry off the very stiff safety before I could use it. It popped open one day and I had enough of it, sold it the next day.

We now have two side openers and two OTF's, none with a safety, and have had several years now of no issues at all. go figure.
double action otfs are a different setup. require a long push firm push to release the sear either way and the spring energy is a one time push so the blade wont fly out in a pocket much....and make them safe for pocket carry. otf single action require a safety. without are far too dangerous to carry in a pocket. not sure anyone makes a single action otf without a safety anymore except maybe a Chinese junk knife maker.

same with lever locks as another example. completely safe for pocket carry due to the lever action required to open it.

I'm speaking of plunger / push button locks only needing a safety and they do. recessed plunger locks/push button locks without a safety are not safe for pocket carry. this is one of these things like a seat belt or motorcycle helmet..... ya dont need it til ya do.......then you'll be glad ya have it.......

if ya think about it logically....the guy who created it..the recessed plunger / button....stopped making his knives that way on his own. this was long before lawyers working for free and class action stuff. he did it because he knew it wasn't safe. he added the safety cause it is needed. that shouldn't be ignored......

How about an LT 100 series ?
I know they had the old rubber handled 600 series variants, but I'm talking about the checkered nylon handle of the 110LT and 112LT.
I only like rubber type grips and handles on pliers, I don't care for it on knives or anything else.
I'd like to see a 55LT while they're at it, in orange and matching my orange 110LT.

I'd buy a 102LT and probably a 117LT.

How's about a re-release of the 301 with flat ground blades, yellow delrin scales, and snappier springs (in the range of 5-6 out of 10). CPM-154 would be nice.

Also, re-release of the 914 with phenolic and stacked leather handles, preferably in CPM-154 or some such.

I'd like a 112 in Magnacut. With some nice wood. I procrastinated too long when they had the recent sprint run. Might as well do another 110 in Magnacut too while they're at it.

- Anything in the 300 Series with at least S30V steel and long pulls.
- Burlap micarta on either a Vantage or Marksman or Paradigm or Spitfire or Bantam.
- Sprint with ebony or dymalux.
- 112 Slim TRX with ebony or dymalux.

Please No Cerakote on any of them.

How about something completely new and different? Like say a karambit maybe. The Buckarambit.

One thing I'd really like from Buck is for them to change their engraving situation.
I got a pair of Alumni's which were engraved on the blades and I hate it, you can hardly see the engraving at all unless you look just right.
The Alumni was the perfect candidate too, all they had to do was leave the printing off and they could have engraved the aluminum which would have looked so great.
They have a lazer engraver why not do away with the terrible blade engraving, and use the lazer to do it on the handles?
There's a decent amount of real estate on the 110 and 112 handle scales, and on all the 100 series fixed blades.
They could do their engraving to the rear bolster of the 110 or 112 too.

They just gotta offer the personalized engraving somewhere better than on the blade or just drop the option all together.

My Buck knives wishlist items have to do with offering more handle options and blade steel options in their custom shop. Fort blade steel how about offering S35v and Magnacut blade steel? Buck has done specials/BOTM in the past so I am not suggesting something they are not familiar with. The same with adding some synthetic handle options in the custom shop. How about a few different colors and types of micarta? Perhaps Carbo fiber as well? The wood options are very good but some other handle options would be very nice.

I agree. Micarta and at least S35V would definitely create at least 2 to 3 knives I would order aside from the Elk 112 I've been waiting to order for so long and a buffalo horn 501 or 112.

Buck's S35V has opened my eyes to premium steels. It holds such a clean edge and responds easily to stropping for a nice period before I have to tap it with the ceramic.
