The Buck you got to Have No Matter the Cost

DSCN2552_zps1676214c.jpg

It took me 26 years but I finally got one.

The one I've got to have ... not sure if there is one. There are a couple, like a nothing fancy 110 with a drop point blade, a 103 and 307 that I want to have, but if I don't get one, or all three, it will not be the end of the world.

An early 301 with the ringed bolsters. I think they were very aesthetically pleasing. Someday I'll be sitting on the porch whittling with one.

For me, it had to be this: A milled 6AL-4V Titanium frame with a S30V custom shop 50th blade. Held together with countersunk Titanium screws and removable handles.

The cost and time to build the first ti frame was ridiculous.

I have a CPM S-110-V blade on order in the model 110 format. I will probably drop it in a skinnied up 560 Ti handle with a pocket clip and a thumb stud.

I'm struggling to hold back on the Buck Frontiersman. It's got the type of blade that just looks unbreakable though just a bit larger than I want, but not much. I'm trying to come up with a use for it before I send Amazon my money. I'm not a collector, I like this site anyway. It comes down that I just want the thing. For no reason whatsoever. Don't need it for batonin, thats what hatchets are for. Don't need it for fishing, that's the job for my 110. I could go on as to what I don't need it for but other than pretending to be apocalypse dude I wouldn't use it for anything that the 110 doesn't already do for me. Plus being larger it'd probably be clumsy and I'd have to keep the 110 handy for small jobs. Go figure.

That slab sided 110 in this pic could be a grail knife. Blade guide to knives describes one that was made with no scale pins. Pretty rare if that is one. A few of us here have them, maybe 3 or 4 of us.

Skyler,,, Welcome to the Buck Forum!

Would be interested in any info you might have on this one.

I thought you had one of them JB...

Hi Ratty,

It's great to that you came by for a look see Larry! "Happy Birthday" the big 70:eek: wow your old;).

Sorry for the tread drift, I'll have to dig some of those old ones out, I have more than one of the no scale rivet pin 110's.

Back to the OP, I just got the new NRA Gen 5 and need to snap a few photo's for this thread. Got to work tonight or I'd do it now.

Yes it is Pack Rat,
when first started asking questions here with my original post in the buck forum shot some bucks today, Joe Houser was kind enough to let me know that model, the 3-4 was done from 67-69 and many returned as hard use had the scales separate and then no need to remake he believed less than 300 or so where made the 1 in photo my user and a few more I have.

This one my Cousins that got me asking why no scale pins

someone mentioned this one also

Sorry guys I was referring to the branded bowie James posted earlier. Couldn't figure how to quote his message. Haha

Hey, I would just be happy with a basic 112 Ranger with black Micarta scales. Like the one that was stolen from me.
