What a great score!! I drooled over it for a few hours.
I ended going with the full dessert ironwood primarily because of these reasons.
I don’t know how much more you can get like these.

  • Cutting is Prohibited: Cutting live or dead ironwood trees for timber, woodcarving, or charcoal production is illegal on both sides of the U.S.–Mexico border.
  • Ecological Impact: Ironwood is a "keystone species" that acts as a nurse plant for young cacti and provides shelter for hundreds of desert species. It has an extremely slow growth rate, and taking the wood can cause severe habitat damage.
  • Fallen Wood: Collecting even dead branches is restricted in many protected areas (like national parks or monuments) to preserve natural habitats.
  • Here’s some pictures of this beautiful wood

  • Both knives have hammered flats which is amazing!

Ha! I had drooled over that Ironwood V6 myself! I came so close to pulling the trigger!
Glad you got it. 😎
Btw, I never knew all that about Ironwood!

funny back when I was in High School we went out to the desert in California and gathered truckloads of Ironwood to burn in our pit BBQ behind the church for the Buyers BBQ at the county fair.

at the same county fair in CA there were tons of woodcarvings entered in the fair.

The 80's what a crazy time :)

So got a bit wild in the jeep...lol! Need a new bumper, passenger side fenders front and rear, and a new rear turn signal. So gonna finally do steel fenders all around and put a new steel bumper on. Possibly a cold air intake?
Then in a few months I may add a 4in lift or just new shocks and tires and stay with a 2in lift.
Of course the wife goes outta town Wednesday for 5 days. So I gotta wait a bit to take it in and order stuff.
Really waiting on the wife to tell me when I can buy my 4runner or Land Cruiser though! Still keeping the jeep as a dog/garbage hauler and off road toy.

I have an old 1999 Chevy Suburban that I used for a dog hauler ; we took out the extra seat for room. Now that we are down to one dog she has plenty of room.
