Got my washers yesterday (for the thumb stud version), and "awaiting shupment" on the thumb hole version.

I've had the thumb stud for a couple weeks and it's been in my pocket a bunch.

I prefer the thumb hole I think. It's not as easy to flick as the stud but its sleeker and offers a couple different opening movements over the stud.

With the thumb stud and my fingers in the right position theres a point during opening which pinches my thumb between the frame and stud. I've had a couple good pinches in there already!

I like them both though and am going to give the thumb hole a couple weeks of pocket time.

As to delicacy, grab that blade and see if you can induce any play in any direction.

I haven't been able.

I also like that the block lock would be self-adjusting, as referenced by A Demko when he discusses robust locking methods.

The thumbhole looks 😃 👍

Just got mine today with thumbhole and solid washers came too. The photos here do not do it justice. It is so thin and light, the handle shape locks into my grip very well, the lockup is the most solid of any folder I have handled. Very happy with the knife.

The only nit-picky thing if I was to find something would be the inside radius of the thumbhole would benefit from just a very light chamfer on the edge. It is machined very precisely and as such the 90° angle is quite sharp.

It feels light and dainty, but it locks up like a vault! I am quite impressed with this thing! Even though the “scales” are pretty thin, just try and squeeze them together! They barely budge! So strong! 💪
 
Yooo anyone got a thumb hole version extra they'd part with..
 
The polished finish on the blade is notable.

I have been flicking the knife open since I got it in late April, and it just gets better.

I will add, and just one old man's opinion, the GT-35 has the very best opening clack.
The integral construction and the block lock just make music.

My version is really drop shut smooth now that I have played with it for a spell.

I got my thumbhole version today.

I'm with Nemo on this. I quite like the knife, but on the production version (if this really is a prototype), I'd like to see the edges on the thumbhole rounded out a bit. I'd also smooth out the precision edges on the lock studs. Basically just smooth out the sharp edges a bit. I expect I'll just get some very fine sandpaper and smooth it out.

I'd also prefer a round hole to to the oblong one because I think it's ergonomically superior, but I understand that to be a Spyderco trademark (even though, IMO, it's functional and therefore not properly trademarkable, IMO), so I don't guess that's going to change. But, in any event, I think smoothing out the sharp edges would be good enough.

Also - My long-time EDC is a Benchmade Nakamura. This knife is longer, but noticibly lighter and only sbout half as thick. The Benchmade feels just a slight bit smoother when opening and closing, but it's not a significant difference, and I expect the Busse will get smoother with use.
