The Busse Combat Khukuri . . . . UPDATE!!!!

DOMINATION!!!!!

The NMFBM just doesn't do it for me. Too MUCH weight. I'm betting Hogzilla will be lighter but not TOO light. Right amount of heft. Plus that the balance is vastly different due to the blade shape.

 I can't imagine how a proper sized kukhri could weigh any less than an NMFBM.

I agree.

A good all around khukri (HI chiruwa ang khola... IMO) weighs in at 2lbs with a 1/2" thick blade and is 16.5" long, and it is still small when compared to other khukri's HI offers. If HOGZILLA isn't huge... 16" plus and atleast 3/8" thick... I don't see it's niche.

The size and weight of the Hogzilla will make or break the "sales" of it IMHO....as a guide line it needs to be able to be carried round the back of the average person angled for an easy draw and not having the handle stick out so that you catch it moving your arms....equally it needs not to be hanging down "in the way" so you cannot sit down....if it can do all this it will have a huge following I think as a "combat knife"....as such the size of the Ghurka issue Khukri...maybe able to be slightly bigger....is a good yard stick.

If it comes in as a huge "weight"...and "size"....it will suffer from the "Cutlass" syndrome which prevents many knives being picked as true "carry" knives.....and that would be a crying shame....

There is "enough" chopping ability in the Ghurka Khukri sized blade to cover "any" requirements that you would want....and still be able to carry the knife full time...

If some guys want "the Mother of All Khukri's"....maybe they can be done on the same basis as say a "MOAB".....but surely the "majority" market niche is with an Army issue sized blade. Anyway...I hope so...

I agree. The standard regimental size would be just fine. A 10" to 12" blade .25" to .31" thick and a weight of 20 oz or so should do the job and still be handy for carry.

I'm not talking about size but balance. A Khuk seems "lighter" on the wrist b/c the weight is lower. I'd also like to see a set of Fusion grips that are mega-fat at the back end - to keep it Khuk-ee. (Khuk-ish?)

Imo we already have the FBM for a 10-12" blade length carry knife. Personally I want the Kukri to stand out and be worth purchasing because of its vastly superior chopping power and size, not because it mimics a FBM with a different blade shape.

Get yourself a good strong 2 inch diameter axle and two all terrain tires for the sheath and field carry should not be a problem for the Hogzilla!!!

Jerry :D

With my 6'-6" frame and 270 lbs the Hogzilla will be right at home in my hands.

I'll just strap one onto this little philly and leash her around...

...

So are you describing some sort of across the back sheath/carry? Sounds interesting, got any pics? What is the size of the issue khukri?

2 pennies: I'm hoping for something along the lines of an 18 inch world war II model.
