I’m sure we all bought a knife thinkin it was the next best thing,we’ll here is mine. I bought this knife 6 months ago, carried it 2 times, wanted to like it. But my loss is your gain. Was gonna sell but has some small fit and finish issues so we will give it away. Keeping this one simple. Tell me your in and show me the knife or tell me the pattern if you no longer own said knife that you bought, thought you would like, but wasn’t for you.
Run it for 3 weeks. At noon on Dec. 11th I’ll put names in a hat and one lucky winner will have a new knife.

I'm in teddy1093 teddy1093 thats a pretty knife. I've never used a wharncliffe bladed knife and I'd be happy to give it a try.
My 'buy before try' experience was in August, I bought a rust red jig bone #14 boys knife. I carry 3 1/2" or bigger knives, and couldn't get past the small size of the knife. I couldn't love it, even though it's a great little knife I quickly realized it wasn't for me. It has been passed along and now has a loving owner and is no longer collecting dust.
Thanks for the chance, this is fun! :)

My main knife related experience of buyer's remorse was from a 834UH it was the display piece in the store which I believe contributed to the weak pull, the springs don't sit flush which leads to blisters with prolonged use, although the main blade workes fine when i try to close the sheepsfoot it would catch on the third blade which has an unusual shape, is oddly bent, and it has a nail nick so low on the blade that it is almost impossible to use among so many other things.(I have no experience with original schrade knives, but have found that the vast majority modern knives by taylor blades are better than this although it really is luck of the draw if you do not give them a close inspection)

My biggest letdown came from what was represented to be a NOS Camillus TL-29. I don’t think I have ever seen such a poorly-assembled knife, with such uneven, badly sunken springs. It looks like it might have been assembled by a squad of monkeys randomly selected from a million of them on a beer break from their random typing.

I have a flea-market Imperial that is much better, as well as ones from Marbles and Rough Rider. I keep the Camillus only to have something to carp about when I need to be outraged about something other than politics or the presumptuousness of autocorrect’s presumptions.

Please count me in. I love a knife with a straight-edged blade, and try always to have one on me.

That's a nice looking knife that would be something I'd not hate to be able to try out, however my only buyers remorse knife experience wasn't traditional and I've experienced enough generosity for now.
Way to go on giving someone else a chance to try this one out.
Just to add some content, there was a traditional buyers remorse experience with a traditional.
It was a cheap all stainless lockback with white scales I bought as a kid.
For some reason I instantly wanted it when I saw it, but only took a few hours for me to regret my $4 purchase.

Not an entry. Thank you for your generosity, and that is a beautiful S&M Swayback!

I'm a huge fan of small knives, and in particular, the Case Peanut. So, when GEC came out with the #18 Coyote and Beagle, I thought for sure that I had hit the lottery. I snagged a Coyote and liked it well enough. I was convinced that the Beagle would be brilliant. Well, turns out, the humble Case Peanut is still undefeated. I found the Beagle to be too heavy, the main blade not as useable as the Peanuts long clip, and the swedge combined with the stock thickness of the Beagle made everything... bulbous. I can't really think of the proper way to describe it. It just wasn't as lithe and slicey and unnoticeable as the Peanut. I still have the Coyote, but the Beagle has moved on to another member. And there's still a Peanut in my pocket...

Dang, this wound is fresh still. Got a Sheffield-made sheepsfoot with a stag handle. I was convinced that package from England would NEVER arrive. But it did, and then!... Sad face. The blade was off center by a good shot and dull as a math seminar, and took a gorilla to open anyway. I’ll chalk it up to a rare miss. The lambsfoot that came with it was lovely though :)) Many thanks for the GAW. What a great community.

I'm definitely in, especially when it comes to Wharncliffe or Sheepsfoot or Lambsfoot blade!

A few months ago I had the opportunity to buy a Gerber 3-blade Stag Stockman. This reignited my deep interest for traditional slipjoints. But the quality of this Chinese made knife (and its bulk) didn't really speak to me. So I traded it for a Victorinox Spartan, which I later on gifted to a friend. Now I'm only interested in American made and lately UK made traditional slipjoints as well. I hope to be drawn out of your hat when the time comes :)

I'm in!

I've been wanting to get another Queen.

I couldn't get into the #71 Bullnose. Really like how it looks and the idea, but just didn't like how it fit in my hand.

I'm in. I've been wanting to try a traditional knife with a wharncliffe blade. I bought a large Case sodbuster (without handling it) thinking it would be a better size than the small, but it is just too big for me to enjoy carrying around. I do like to use it when I'm in the yard or doing a dirty job. It is hard to regret it too much though, because the price is so reasonable.

Cool idea, man! Not an entry, but I'll share - two come to mind. The #13 clerk pen knife in muslin micarta, and the S&M swell center half whittler. Sold both, didn't look back. They were great knives, just didn't speak to me when I got them in hand.

I tried to resist but that thing is just too pretty.

There's always some knife that catches my eye and then doesn't work out.
The last one I can think of was a lowly Rough Rider dogleg jack. Most everything was wrong with it and even if perfect it just wasn't what I wanted it to be.
It has a nice thin main blade that locked so I really thought i'd love it but alas.

Thanks for the chance!

Count me in for this one.

The #98 whittler was a BIG disappointment for me...emphasis on the big. I had no idea how large the 98 pattern was. It was hard to tell in the pics without another knife next to it. When I opened the package to find what seemed like a foot-long tube, my heart sank. Inside was a beautiful, well-made pocket machete. I really wanted to like the knife and was hoping for something closer to the size of a 54 pattern, but they can't all be keepers. Still holding out for a Grinling whittler.

In like Flynn....
The pattern I bought, and just could not warm up to: the Case Russ-lock. I gifted her to an admirer of it.

Thought I would like one of those GEC melon whittlers, but had to move it on. Thanks for the chance.
