The camp tramp is back !!!

But is it going to be hundreds difference? For say $50 more, I might go for DH SR-101. But I have to say that $200 is getting near my limit, and from what I have seen (it's kind of hard to do a good search with all the different words people use), I'm not going to get a big INFI or DH SR-101 blade for anywhere near the low $200s, even if I wait around for a new model to be offered from the factory.

You're definitely smelling the roses now, Kirk. :)

Buy the 711. You won't be disappointed. And if my guess is correct, it will be your gateway drug into the world of ever more-expensive Busse Kin knives.

You've been warned. ;)

Get the 711....beat the snot out of it....then say Holy Crap this knife is awesome and it only cost me chump change for the performance! :)

Ha, I'm starting to wish that Kirk were smelling some goodbye roses. I don't see any other roses in his foreseeable future.

I'd jump for the 711 ... if I weren't also looking at the Rodent 9. I love the micarta handles, never tried the scrapyard handles. And gotta decide if I want that extra 2 inches of blade.

and that sums it up nicely!:thumbup:

Which handle you choose depends largely on what you'll be using the knife for. If you're going to be doing a lot of heavy chopping, I'd opt for the the 711 (or the 911 if and when it gets released). Res-C is really good at absorbing shock.

That's a great point about the handles. It's going to be used on backpacking trips when I want to save weight by replacing a hatchet and small knife with a big knife ... so mostly chopping and batoning.

911 ... as in 9 inch blade? That would be about perfect. When is that expected?

Kirk, if you watch the exchange and willing to wait, there are always deals that come up. You can certainly get a 9" Battle Rat DHT for low to mid $200. Pm an offer to the seller, many are willing to deal.
