The Cantina and Diversity

Dads side: Polish, Lithuanian, Russian, Mongolian, Latvian, Estonian, Siberian, some type of Viking, maybe Norwegian, probably the Rus clan.

Moms side: Scottish, Irish, Austrian, Czechoslovakian, another type of Viking, Blackfoot, Cherokee and Crow.

Also heard a tale about some Poles looking for Siberia (why? ), and ending up in Scotland.

I learn about more confirmed heritage from time to time. Different areas of the particular country, maybe over the years the specific countries borders changed, absorbing or losing whichever province my great great grandfather came from for example.

Personally I believe that the story of Adam and Eve was a story to help biblical man learn about creation, explaining the intricacies of the big bang and evolution to them would not have been an easy task. But, I do believe that we are all distantly related, and even if we aren't, we should still take care of our fellow man. I agree with Munk.

all human genes can be traced back to 5 women back in the pre or early stone age. all the other dna lines have died off, so we are more closely related than we think. ( the 5 women i think also came from vaguely the same area ) it's not a racial thing either as the 5 womens genes are traceable in all races....(mitochondrial dna which is always inherited thru the female side of the equation....)

I hadn't heard the 'five women' thing, but knew a cataclysmic event was thought to have nearly made man extinct. Probably the collision of a asteroid to Earth and or the blowing up of a mega volcano.

Anyway, I don't want you talking about my Momma without respect.

did a little research, seem that things have moved on since i last read about this, there are now 36 known 'clan' groupings of recent ancestry mitochondrial dna, which is inherited from the female side only (once a 'line' has only sons, it effectively dies out as it cannot pass on the mitochondria, of course the line may continue thru it's sons offspring, but it then picks up the mitochondrial dna from the line of the mother, not the father...), and 7 of those are the ones found in europeans. there are 5 to 7 male paternal dna groupings, 5 for europeans & asians & seven for the others. they have traced the mitochondrial dna back even further to ONE woman in africa (they call her 'eve' for some reason) 150000 years ago....google 'mitochondrial dna' for a lot of interesting info...

now that we all seem to be related, does that mean we have to be nice to everybody else, since they're 'family'?

Yes it does.

I told you not to gawk or say bad things about our Momma. She doesn't like it when you goggle at her.

It is unfair, Thomas- but what are you talking about? You're sharp and can still go toe to toe with her; I can't. These 29 year old kids who work with software, solid and smart are the voice of the future. I'm a black and white TV. The one with a lot of white noise and rabbit ears. The one you have to slap every once in awhile to get to come in 'right'.

ouch.
