The Car of My Dreams

You're right. The Koenigsegg website says 0-100 kph in 3.2 seconds. That would be 0-61.5 mph + or - a bit.
Heck, the Atom is faster than that: 0-60 in under three seconds. 0-100 is about six seconds as I recall. And a fraction of the price of one of those "supercars".

Modding is for cheapskates who can't afford a more expensive car.
Hahahaha!!!

Plus why would you want to drive people around in your car? Tell them to get their own.
I will never buy a car with someone else's needs in mind. It's my car dammit. Don't want to climb into the back seat of a two-door, then get your own car. Don't want to get your hair messed up when I drive with the top off, then get your own car. You want to complain because it's 55-degrees outside and I still have the top off, then get your own car. Get your feelings hurt when I say you've put us over the car's 400lb weight limit, then get your own car.

Who needs freakin' ride-moochers anyway...

If it can't haul a motorcycle or pull a trailer, I wouldn't buy it.
"If you see my bike on a trailer, someone stole it."
"I haul ass, not bikes"

I don't think the comments regarding 4x8 sheets of plywood are relevent when sportscar shopping; I doubt that even casual sportscar owners have only one vehicle. And anyway, how many of those big ugly station wagon SUVs can actually carry a full sheet of plywood plus four passengers at the same time? "Sports Utility Vehicle" my ass - they aren't sporty; the utility value is minimal compared to a real truck, and the vehicle portion of the lable could be debated as well.

Best Wishes,
-Bob

And rich people get other people to transport their stuff.

You my friend, do not know how to live large.:)

whats wrong with driving people when you have a nice car? do you not plan on picking up any ladies in your brand new ride? ;)

i dont find modding cars is for cheapskates. i grew up around cars and worked on them since i could pickup a wrench but whats important to me is not necessarily the car (of course this is important but i'll get back to it in a minute), but the way you drive it.

i see tons of people in my area... bmw 7 series. benz sl class. a few austin martins and even a bently gt continental. but.... alot of them cant drive worth shit.

my problem with having a nice car is that i'd be afraid to park it on a public street... if i was rich enough im sure i wouldnt care but even an s2000 is an expensive car in my budget.. considering im a student trying to balance my rising tuition costs plus my knife addiction :D

now back to the car part... yes i think if you have the money to drive a ferrari you should have the money to pay the guy at home depot to deliver ur plywood. and having a austin martin is of course IMO nicer then a souped up s2000 but i think its really where u are in your life and what your preferences are.

my dream car.... kinda hard to say ONE car.. i've been around so many.. the only problem being that in canada you cant import a car unless its 15 years or older plus passes air care and regulations (vehicle inspection) for insurance in canada.

also... are you guys seriously able to afford these cars or are we all just dreaming here?

if its a car that i could purchase on my magical super platinum card it'd probably be an austin martin v8 vanquish.... just cause the car has just streamline design and when u roll up to a club in one of those you make heads turn.. :)

if it was a car that i had to afford on my budget... pending my tuition, student loans, and every other bill i pay for is payed then.... hoping i have a little extra cash in my pocket...

1998 toyota supra twin turbo anniversary edition in midnight black with two white stripes running down the middle of the car (signature to mustangs and vipers and other american muscle cars)..

of course the supra will most likely be modded... just cause i like working on cars... rip out the old turbo setup... put in a brand spanking new hks twin turbo setup (the blowoff valves will be position near the bottom back side of the front side fenders so when i rev high near a chic wearing a skirt it might just blow up ;) . new intercooler. standalone fuel management system. re-bore the motors. bigger pulleys. intake and exhaust system from AEM and GREDDY. and a nice suspension setup for whipping around corners... limo tint windows and a short throw shifter would be nice as well =)

do you not plan on picking up any ladies in your brand new ride?
Don't know about Point44's wife, but mine would not approve. :D

if i was rich enough im sure i wouldnt care but even an s2000 is an expensive car in my budget..
I bought it used. A pretty good deal too, buying in Colorado in the middle of Winter. :) I never had a car when I was a student - couldn't afford the insurance or gas, much less a car. :(

The Aston Martin, just dreaming. The Atom, I probably could if I saved for a couple of years. I think the Atom costs about $40k, which is about the same price as a nice pickup, Toyota Avalon, or mid-range SUV. If I could have found a used Atom, I wouldn't of even looked at the S2000.

I wouldn't want the '63 Corvette to race with...Just to pick up women in.:D.:D.

Good point, Dann. While a great majority would say that the most expensive or fastest cars are the "best", I agree with you that there is something to be said for STYLE. I had a 2002 SS Camaro Convertible in midnight blue, and hardly got a look or comment. Now I drive a 1978 Z28, all stock, and get 10 times the looks and admirers. The Z is cheaper and slower than the SS, but it gets more style points in my opinion (although I did drool all over the SS more than once). A '63 Vette gets a whole lot more style per dollar than most of the others mentioned. Just my opinion, but then I'm biased towards chevy muscle cars. :D

haha bob im sure my girlfriend wouldnt approve either if i drove around picking up girls all day :D

the s2000 is an awesome car used or not. i had the pleasure of working on one for a buddy of mind. but in a sports style cross bar right behing the seat just low enough for the top to still go over. it was a fun mod. looks purdy too

also installed lowering springs, sway bars and stabalizers into the s2000. rips around corners and down highways like theres no tommorow.. the engine is still naturally aspirated except for an intake and exhaust system to make the car sound nice. the color of the s2000 is gran prix white IMO best color for the s2000. ;)

my parents were able to help me put a downpayment on a camry and heck it gets me from point a to b so what do i have to complain about? i also dug into my scholarships a tad bit to help pay for the insurance which is about 3000 a year where i live

how does the s2000 perform as a family car? just asking cause i assume u have kids if you got a wife :jerkit:

personally hard-top cars are the way to go for me... the soft tops usually have more noise once going over 90km/h.

wouldnt mind having one of these babies in my garage sometime in the distant future.

69 ss chevelle... dang thats purdy ^^

cheers

Can you get a matched pair of those CC...automobiles...one for husband and one for wife?
Oh, and, what would they cost...I suspect it is the same range that they say about people why buy large boats...."If you gotta ask the price, you can't afford it".
Those are "Sweet" looking vehicles though.

No way! Everyone knows that the Suzuka Blue is the fastest color. :D (That's the color in the ad pic I posted above)

I can't believe that's necessary. My "S" is completely stock, but my nerves reach their limits way before the car does... Maybe I should sign up for a driving class?

how does the s2000 perform as a family car?
Wife doesn't like it. Child can't ride in it for at least 6-8 more years (air bags cannot be turned off). My dog-buddy Sadie freakin' loves it!! So it's really my get-away-from-the-family car.

It's actually my first import and my first convertible. Sadie and I are very happy with it.

personally hard-top cars are the way to go for me... the soft tops usually have more noise once going over 90km/h.
There is a snap-on hard top accessory available for the S2000. Beginning in '07 the Miata will have an optional folding hard top. The new Pontiac G6 convertible is also a folding hardtop. Ditto the Lexus SC430.

I've always had hardtop two-door cars too (Mark VIII and two Cougars). Owning a convertible was something I'd wanted to do for a long time and I doubt I'll go back any time soon. If I were buying a hardtop, the Infinity G35 Coupe would be first on my test drive list.

the soft tops usually have more noise once going over 90km/h.
I've driven once or twice with the top up, and the wind noise isn't really that bad. The top seems well-insulated and durable - quiet, warm, and no flapping. At 115MPH with the top off, the wind and noise can be a bit bothersome.

69 ss chevelle... dang thats purdy
I don't know what model year it was, but I rode in one of those recently. Very cool!

Well, as I have never been an especial fan of "Plastic Pigs," I'll stick with my choices of dream cars. About the only 'Vette that even vaguely interested me was the 4-cam version that the built very briefly in the late 1980s or early 1990s.

Different strokes....

I was born practical & got worse. Beauty & performance are okay but to me my new GMC Sierra 1500 crew cab is the epitome of vehicles .

Uncle [old fart ] Alan ;) :D

I agree, srveral years ago when I was able, I bought my real life dream "car", a 2000 Black Z71 extended cab Silverado. A full crew cab with the 2000 body style is the only thing that would make it better.

Thet doesn't mean that there aren't a whole bunch I drool over though, the unrealistic dream cars. One of my favorite Ferreri's is even semi-realistic, the 456GT. Oh well.....

Guys, this was initially posted as a semi-funny, terribly outrageous example of wretched excess. I drive a Ford Focus and a Mazda6 SportWagon although I would LOVE to be able to afford something sportier. But nothing of that sort fits into my life at this time, sadly.

How many of you are familiar with Edward Arlington Robinson's poem, "Richard Cory"? There is a line in it: "And (we) went without the meat, and cursed the bread." About 1970, I was walking past the Georgetown Inn on Wisconsin Avenue and I saw scarlet Lamborghini Miura pull into the parking lot. A couple, very obviously wealthier than Hell from their clothes and her hairdo (It must have cost more to maintain than I earned in a week at that time.) climbed out and took their expensive-looking soft leather overnight bags out of the car. The driver handed the keys over to this gum-chewing kid of a parking attendant and I heard him say to his partner, "I hope that he knows how to drive a 5-speed." I cursed my beat up 1960 VW Beetle all the way home.

In case you are not familiar with the poem, here it is:
Richard Cory

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich - yes, richer than a king -
And admirably schooled in every grace;
In fine we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

- Edwin Arlington Robinson -
" The Children Of The Night "

How many girls do you need in a car? Just one on the passenger seat is fine.
Plus real men don't do it in the back seat. They go to penthouses in classy hotels.

If you like threesomes then get the Mclaren F1.

I have always dreamed of a Porsche. But a BMW M3 would make me one happy chappy.

Between us, my family has a BMW 7 series, BMW 325, a couple of hondas and a couple of Malaysian made tiny cars. Surprisingly i'm more than happy driving the honda Jazz. It's just the right size for city driving and has good acceleration when you switch on the sports mode with the VTEC engine. When you have the CVT it is just silky smooth you don't know when the car changes gears.

I guess if i were super rich i'd like a driver driving me in a Maybach around town but i'm not rich.

Love the atom. It makes driving a visceral experience. Looks very similar to motorcycling but with better brakes and handling. So far I have satisfied my car wants, slowly and not finished. TR6,Land Cruiser FJ 40, Land Rover Series III, MINI Cooper MCS with JCW package. Money no object? Any of the Supercars. Limited money but still a lot of it, a 427 Cobra Kit Car.

Attainable : Ariel Atom

some how, my mom says the people behind the K/egger are related to me. something like great great aunts sister in law is their great great grandmother..... I have a 2 nd cousin who is working for them...

As far as wind noise, most of the high end cars are surprisingly quiet in rag top form the last 850 BMW that i drove was a 6 speed behind the big V 12 of the 750 series and it was like a church at 140 mph

how ever I once had a weekend in a 365 GBT/4 S Daytona and that was a whistler going across parts of Montana at 160 plus....But the sounds that car made running thru the gears was truely a symphony of erotica

Bob W, I looked up the Ariel Atom. Is that thing even legal to drive in the United States?

If I can find it, I'll pick this up one day.
