The Cheapest Knife that You Trust.

What is the cheapest knife (or knives) that you trust for everyday use? I imagine most everyone will answer with a folder.

Don't know exactly what you mean by "trust for everyday use"; you know some days are
pretty different than other days. :)

For me it's a fixed blade.
I carry a Fallkniven F1 in my shoulder bag.

Least expensive that I'd "trust" would be something like the Blackjack small hunter
in AUS10; the Cold Steel Pendleton Hunter, something like that.

I the Buck Kaala even more than those two, though it's a bit more expensive.
A single piece of S30V. Very "trustable".

My cheapest folders I trust are a Camillus Heat, Spyderco Native and a recently acquired CRKT Prowler. These are really my EDC's.

These are the cheapest fixed blades I own. After using them, I trust them.
Mora 2000 and 780.

To me every day use means a folder, so let me mention two of my favorites here. Besides the ever faithful Vic. Farmer (or Pioneer) and one model or another of the Opinels, my other two favorites are my Boker Sodbuster (from their Arbolito division in Argentina) and my Douk-Douk from France. Both of those are excellent, sturdy, but inexpensive pocket knives. It's not unusual for me to carry three folders.

I am torn between a decision to buy a Case or Boker Sod Buster. Has anyone compared the two? They can't be much different. I am looking for one in stag to add to the EDC box.

Not sure about the stag, but I do own a few boker and case sodbusters, imo the case is better as far as quality of fit and finish and the steel holds an edge better as well, of the boker soddies, i like the smaller version better, the large ones I've tried didn't feel very sturdy, as if the extra blade length put to much leverage on the pivot when making feather sticks any other task where your not going straight through.

the absolute cheapest I would trust is the buck bantam ($10-15 even in canada) no doubt that opinels and moras are better quality but since its for edc I prefer a folder with one hand opening, considerable heft, and a solid lock.

This is where the thread gets turned upside down. Hold on to your hats.;)

Haha, by your handle we know where you sit on the issue.;)

You started this thread almost begging for conflict it seems.

To answer the question, a large SAK with saw of some configuration for EDU use.

I have never seen a soddie in stag. But I had this Boker given some rams horn scales.

I'm not begging for any conflict. I haven't been here for a month and have already caught on to your rep.

Its more fun this way. The mora love in must have balance, sorry.

Send me your mora and I will break them for you.

Wont take much.

Now who's begging for conflict?

MB, if you put him on "ignore" you can just assume his posts say, "Moras suck". That will save you from having to read it over and over and over......

The Gerber LST I bought in the fall of 1988 for less than $20. I've got newer, more expensive knives since then, and I STILL find this in my hand when I need a knife.

Since the dawn of time, poor workers have laid the blame on their tools. This is a classic case and my last word for the biased.

The two knives that come to mind right away are my Wenger serrated backpacker, I think I paid 7 or 8 dollars for it and my yellow handled Case sodbuster jr. in cv. I probley have 15 dollars in the Case. Both are good knives and they make a pretty good combo for edc and bumming around the lake. My 2 cents
Jim
