The Cheapest Knife that You Trust.

I almost forgot. My $2.50 Tramontina Gaucho knife. I use it almost everyday. I have absolute faith that it'll do what it's supposed to do for a lifetime.

Got this Crewman before the factory closing and paid something like $40 bucks at Chestnut Ridge - ridiculous bang for the buck and about as trustworthy as they come for that price:

That is a great blade and as you say insane value.

Not the cheapest I own but the cheapest I trust is my Ka-Bar 1217

This is also my most borrowed knife(only knife i'll lend out) always comes back in one piece. Great knife.

myEDC is an opinel, #10 right now.

my woodscarry is a mora.

both are very cheap and reliable

I don't "trust" any one knife, that's why I usually carry two, three, or sometimes more, depending on layers worn.

Dingoobubba, how did you mod it? Any pics?
I forgot my bushman somehow, top of the list for sure.

the cheapest knife i trust....a one armed jack from Rough Rider....sharp as hell and easy to use...i paid 7.99 for it from SMKW....i have whittled with it fuzzed sticks trimmed my cuticles just good clean everyday fun...and it keeps an edge thats for sure...along with my little schrade both are razor sharp and hadle nicely

Vic. SAK soldier w/ alox handles ($16.99 SMKW)
Ontario marine combat (looks like the old K-BAR) $35.00 SMKW .
Tramontina machete ($5.99 SMKW)
Mora $10 ~$20 (deponds on model)
I think a man could do himself well with these items (less than $75.00) ;)

I trust myself and my training to use any tool properly within its design limits.

I use a wide range of knives and tools for all kinds of tasks. I don't use cutting tools for pry bars, screwdrivers for chisels, ratchets for hammers, etc. I'm not going to chop firewood with a Vic paring knife and I'm not doing food prep with an axe.

What is the least expensive knives I go wandering around the woods with? Moras, SAK's, Cold Steel Mini Bushman, etc. I can trust myself to use them properly and take a tool that is up to the conditions I might travel in. If I am day hiking with a group I might take something lighter and simpler than when I go solo and farther out for several days.

I do carry redundant cutting tools. I carry a go-to knife and also have single-edge razor blades, scalpel blades, and a mini like an SAK Classic or Leatherman Micra.

Sorry I got no pics as of yet. I took the black coating off the blade and gave it a satin look. Ground down the tip to make it a drop point then sprayed bed liner stuff on the handle for some grippiness(if thats a word). Then hit Eric up for a sheath. I was surprised how the bedliner spray and the kydex match up almost perfectly.
