The 110 auto clone counterfit knives are getting harder for the casual buyer to tell from the real thing.
These knives are selling in the low $40's shipping included directly to USA from China.
They are openly sold on the well known counterfit website [don't give free advertising to the crooks].
They are doing a better job with the tang stamps, sheath and box.

That really is a close copy. Had no idea they were faking the 110 pattern. Has anyone seen any standard 110's being made? I wonder if they are using current date stamps? If they are I'd think they would just use the same date stamp on everything rather than changing it to match each coming year. If they all have the same date stamp that might make it easier to spot the fake.

Having been advised to change the date stamp, I suspect they will do so to make it harder to spot their fakes..

That's entirely possible since we have a thread specifically about dates stamps, past and future on this very board that gives them all the info they would need. Most folks don't even know what the date stamp means so I'm guessing they just copied what ever was on the blade they used as a pattern and will leave it at that.

I see at several selling on the bay right now and not stating they have come from China. Quite a few have already sold as well.

We need to do our part in letting people know they are fakes! I contact people on the bay and inform them about the knockoff they are selling. Some people are very understanding, others not so much. Just wish buck would do something!

It seems like the Chinese copy everything. Is there anything that they actually thought up, designed, and engineered on their own? It might look similar to a Buck but I bet it doesn't feel like one. That box is also the wrong size and looks cheaper.

Not sure there is much Buck can do. The fakes are being made in another country where the violators most likely won't or can't be forced into court. They could probably sue everyone in the U.S.A. that sells these but they would have to prove they knew they were selling fakes and even then what kind of damages would Buck be awarded from some little bay seller? Buck could literally go broke paying lawyer fees.

The only one who can do something is the consumer by not buying the fakes provided they even care.

Bad hammer I see your point, as a Buck collector and the love I have for the family and company, I will still try my best to inform the people that buy and sell these knock offs

They aren't calling them a switchblade but isn't it against the bay rules to sell autos? If so wouldn't the easiest way to stop the sales of these be to inform the bay that the sale is in violation of their rules as they are actually an auto?

I was thinking the exact same thing. Not sure how the bay would see it if we reported the sellers as selling auto's.

I guess if someone from a state where an auto is illegal bought one they could actually notify the bay that they had just made an illegal purchase the to improper wording of the sellers listing. Maybe even get their local PD involved if they were sure they would not be charged with a crime. If you ask the seller a question such as "isn't this knife considered an auto" does their reply or lack of show on the listing?

Sadly, ebay does not care at all. There are tons of knives being sold on there that are obvious fakes. So long as ebay gets their $$ they don't care.

TAH, I am thinking you might be joking, but isn't the notch part of the auto set-up. Someone who knows what the notch is for give me a quick run down on how the thing works. 300

The stripper? It's for use after your score the wire insulation all the way around. Then you put the scored part into the edge of notch, kinda bend it over a bit and hold it down with your thumb and pull, and hopefully the insulation will pull off, exposing the bare wire. Little hard to explain it, but I'm betting you follow me. Sometimes you have to pull a bit, turn the wire again, pull again, etc. if you've not scored it down to the wire inside.

Some wire/cable had thin enough insulation that you can use the notch without having to score it first.

If you've looked at the DPx line of folders, they've combined three stripper notches on the spine which double as thumb jumping. Looks a little funky but it works ok to me for jumping.

It's often just easier and cleaner just to use a dedicated wire stripper, but it'll work in a pinch.

It's part of the auto set-up. If you Google "Buck 110 auto conversion" you'll see that notch in every image. I believe it's how\where the catch goes to hold the blade against the spring pressure. Pretty sure TAH was joking about it being a wire stripper.

If Buck is having their knives made in China what is the difference? I guess just that the manufacture is not getting their cut for importing them. I do wonder if this is the same factory that made Buck knives for them for all those many, many years.

Buck only has a small percentage of their product line made overseas and the Buck 110 has never been made any where but the U.S.A.
