The Chinese Counterfiters have upped their game......

Thanks David. Perhaps I misread 300Bucks' comment. I agree, Mexico has a fine reputation for leatherwork.

Examined some of these counterfit 110 autos at the gunshow today. Don't feel as good in the hand as a real 110 but pretty darn close in appearance. The seller knew they were fake and didn't care... selling them for $125.

If someone bought one of those, and sent it in to Buck for a warranty repair, would the people at Buck be able to spot it as a fake? And how? What would they look for?

Me, I buy now only from the Buck website, the BCCI, this forum, or a reputable dealer.

The first thing to suspect is that all 4 pens are brass. Other than that the give away from just viewing a picture is look at the letter K in BUCK as it lines up with the grind of the blade. Compare it to a real 110 and you will see the difference. If you hold one it is easier to tell. Although close it is not fit and finished. The China touch stands out:)

The counterfeiters go to the trouble of paying attention to small details, but they use a plain brass snap on the sheath.

I have reported counterfeit items for three buck knives tonight. One fella is delisting his after thinking I may be a nut case but has later decided I might be right. I referred him to bladeforums BUCK knives section. At least he is honorable enough to delist until he can verify what he has. The other two are not so convinced.
Again, I encourage everyone to notify these sellers and go to this page and report the item number. You will simply get a canned reply with the item number but it helps you keep up with what you have reported. If in the future there is some legal case, at least the auction site nor seller can claim they did not know. I doubt the auction site is going to take action since all they care about is collecting fees:

Buck would not warranty these because they have been modified. Even if it was a Buck factory 110 with an after market auto mod it voids the warranty.
