The Cold Steel 4 Max Scout is a folding survival knife.

One day... you'll be right.

Of course. A fixed blade is always the preferred option for survival, but if I did not have a fixed blade in such a situation, and I had to carry a folding knife, then I would pick the AD10 or 4 Max Scout.

What random fantasy scenario do you imagine you'd be choosing a folding knife just in case you'd be in a survival situation, but that you couldn't also chose a fixed blade?

OK, so pick your knife, actually go out and use it, take some pictures of the knife in use, then post them here.....there are plenty of threads on how to do this....

I know someone had mentioned in a previous thread that you may work for SOG but now I'd bet money you actually do work for GSM as "viral marketing". In the past few months the majority of the knives I've seen you use clickbaity titles similar to "The bestest most beastliest knife to hit your face" have been GSM products. Which also makes me ponder Gerber must be close to making a deal with them.

If I had to take a folding knife instead of a fixed blade knife into a situation that required a survival knife, the AD10 and 4 Max Scout this would be the the two knives I'd pick!
I don’t own one, but if I had to choose a production knife, I’d take the CS Rajah 2.

Have you seen that puppy in action? Pretty amazing chopper.

Like literally everyone else that has expressed an opinion on this, I would prefer a fixed blade, but I don’t mind playing “what if” games. :)

I will never understand this myth that cold steel convinced people of that bigger is better in a folding knife, but you do you friends. I'd take an opinel over both of your choices and be better off for the majority of the things I'd need a "survival" knife for in such a situation.

It better be a very short survival situation. There is no way to clean those things in the wild, so anything involving food preparation can lead to food poisoning.

Myth?

Well - that’s mildly insulting - but what the heck, ok let’s bust it!

Remember we’re talking about a “survival situation” where you are relying on just a folder as your only cutting tool.

Now maybe you get lucky and the “survival situation” turns out to be a tropical island with lots of fish, crabs, coconuts, and rocks to bash them open with. Your Opinel will do fine - arguably better than my imaginary (since I don’t own one) Rajah 2. You win! (Of course, I’d also still be alive with my big folder).

Ok, now maybe you spin the wheel and end up in a cold forest with a bunch of standing dead trees. This time, I argue, the Rajah 2 will be much more useful for survival. Do you disagree?

That’s my pitch - batter up!

I’ll ask again, if possible, for some pictures of you, using the knife.. ?
Wishful thinking. But his actions (or lack thereof) speak louder than words. He doesn’t have a 4Max Scout. Or any other knife for that matter. He watches vids on YT , becomes obsessed with some knife that he never plans on owning , starts a thread about how it’s the best this and the best that , people ask for pics and/or challenge his credibility due to his track record , he’s gets snippy , people snip back , it gets out of hand , the threads gets closed , we all have a good laugh and it starts all over again the next week with a different knife. Rinse and repeat.

And this is where he tells me that he “admires my candor”. Wait for it…
