The comfort of a few old friends.

Thanks Jackknife. That one brought back memories of my grandad. He's been gone along time now. I still miss him and think of him often.

Seriously Jackknife, you should sit down and really write. I think it would a shame to not leave something for posterity. Especially from a great writer like you. There is way too much generation disconnect lately.

God Bless

Very nice story Jackknife. But I start to feel the "need" for a lighter, zippo or gas instead of the matches that up to now seemed to be all I needed. Bosse

A fueled up Zippo is a personal fire machine that has no equal.

Jackknife, you have a real talent with the written word, excellent story :) I also agree about the value of the ol' reliable Zippo, I don't smoke, never have, never will, but I do carry a brushed brass Armor Zippo with me, mainly because it's always a good thing to have the ability to make fire when needed, plus the whole "MacTech Make Fire! <grunt>" appeals to my primitive, caveman side

And like a well-loved slipjoint knife, the humble Zippo has an appeal that's just not there with a high-pressure blue-flame butane lighter or even a basic Bic, yes they're more advanced, more reliable, and the fuel doesn't evaporate when not used, but they also don't have the simple appeal of the Zippo

Another winner, JK!

Thanks,
Glenn

Bics just don't have that sound. ;)

Very nice to have your words warm the soul like "a small fire you can sit close to."

Good Job! Another great story! I really look forward to these. Gee, where did I leave my old zippo?
