The comfort of a few old friends.

What should make you all smile is to know that if you can remember this story and his others YOU will never be alone either.....I will have half a dozen people with me..300

Jackknife-Bladeforum's Nessmuk or is it Mark Twain?

You tell a good tale Carl and we thank you for it.

This is absolutely my favorite of all of Jackknife's stories. It shows just how easy it can be to deal with adversity if one thinks things through.

I've told Carl this via PM before, but let me just say for the record, that I am an editor by trade and I'd gladly volunteer my services in compiling these stories in book form. You know how to reach me, Carl. :-)

Lord, jackknife, you're not doing my liver any favors ....... it's back to the cabinet to drink another toast to you! Great stuff.

Same here.. Had a little authentic NC mountain 'shine left I'd been saving and had to raise my glass to Carl on this one!

jacknife,

All your stories are Grand but man, this one is Exceptional.

Thank You,
Anthony

Great reading this story again.
I see in my previous post I had thoughts about a lighter and I now have one, a gas silva stormligther that can be refilled. When its less than good sircumstances its easyer to light the fire with than matches. It works when its windy and the ability to hold a hot fire for a longer time than the matches allow makes it easyer to light a fire if its a little damp and also lites the fire with less prework.
