The crap non-knife people say

I just had a good one. This is more of a rant but it relates to a conversation I just had. I overheard my boss talking about potentially adding a awl in the list of tools that are needed for an inspection job we're doing. I said well we should just get Swiss Army knives or multi-tools and he said we can't have "weapons" onsite. "Then he added a knife isn't a tool". This was about 5 minutes after one of the engineers walked out with a 3.5 ' manhole crowbar that has to weigh close to 20lbs. It's ok for us to have screwdrivers, hammers, etc but a pocket knife (I wasn't seriously suggesting it but was just pointing out how most of the tools exist on my SwissChamp) is not ok. In a hammer vs. Swisschamp fight I'd rather have a hammer.

The crap non-knife people believe based on laws and regulations created by non knife people...

The crap non-knife people say:

"You're not allowed to come into this store anymore with that thing."

My favorite is when friend's or people around me get all pissy and ask, "why do you carry a knife!?" and then within 15 minutes ask again, "can I use your knife to cut this or that?"

A border guard looked in my trunk and saw a knife. She then asks me if I have any other deadly weapons in the car. I held my tongue.

"what the hell are you carrying a knife for???!!! Man are you a serial killer or something?!?!?!"

OK, my girlfriend is a knife person, so this probably doesn't count, but I showed her my ZT0600, which I had just sharpened. That thing is hair-popping sharp! Anyway, I found her in the barn and showed it to her and she snaps it open like a pro, smiles an evil smile and says, "This thing is overkill!"

I told her that all of my knives are overkill. :)

Once in a while, some idiot will say to me, Don't bring a knife to a gun fight, while making a pointy finger gesture that's supposed to be a gun.
Then I tell them.
Don't bring a finger to knife fight.
:D

I guess hell has froze over the day a farming store says no knives...
Jeez I guess so. Hell, one of the stores back home had a knife sharpener (just a pull through carbide one) on a chain in the check out line so you could try it out on your pocket knife while you wait. I've never had a store give me shit for having a knife, but then again I don't go waving it around. I do kind of giggle when I see a "no knives or weapons" sign at goodwill or something.

I've only really had a few people my age just ask why I carry a knife but older people never seem to give a shit.

To those who have had people bitch at you, at least you don't live in the UK where they have news programs saying "Oh no kids are carrying knives!"

It's a real issue. I use knives at work but all fixed blades. I've recently gotten interested in a flipper BUT no thanks to so-called tactical models. For that very reason.

The argument is as stupid as the public perception of black guns but exists all the same.

I hear do not bring a knife to a gun fight all the time . I always ask were is your gun. they always say at home or in the truck. Then I say good luck.

This past Christmas I was at my girlfriends parents house and her cousin asked me "why do you carry a knife? You never have to use it. Especially two knives that's just ridiculous." Then about an hour later we were opening gifts and he immediately turned and asked for my knife just like everyone always does, so I told him no. He looked at me like what an a$$hole. And said why not. I told him "it's just ridiculous to carry a knife and I never use it, so why would you need to use it."

He then finally retracted his first statement.

Just happened to me today my father and I were at the hardware store, and some dude came up to him and saw his buck knife on his belt(110) and said " Did you know 99% of people who get robbed that have a knife on them end up having it used against them?" and my dad said " well that's why I have my gun on me". Never seen such a terrified person in my life.
