The CRK Anticipation Thread - Show Your 'Inbound's!

As I understand it, storing any knife in any sheath for prolonged periods could theoretically lead to rust. That said, Tim Reeve recently commented on this on Facebook and indicated he has not seen this issue at all with their knives and pouches. And if your knives are on rotation, I think it's much less of a concern.

Out of curiosity, how long is " prolonged periods " regarding rust and all that, I mean are we talking weeks / months or years theoretically? I will keep this in mind. Thank you again blanco.

I'm just more concerned when I start to have more premium knives obviously I will have to figure out a different way of storing them if they are just going to be passive.

I had a feeling.

Unless they made very small ones I suppose.

I was just thinking of this the other day ( knife case ) since I have such a small amount of expensive knives I probably don't have to worry over it yet.

But I have been wondering is there any downside to storing the knives in the calfskin pouch for long periods of time? Right now my " storage " just tends to be me putting my knife in a calfskin pouch then wrapping the CKR microfiber cloth around it.

I just bought a Maxpedition OD green 12 slot knife carrying case. On purpose to hopefully deter me from keeping more than 12 folders. its almost filled have 4 Shiros and more than double CRK.

My other 2010 has a swedge on it also, the member I bought it from had the matching set and I've wanted to pick it up but it wasnt the time, then he sold it off and I'm pretty sure this is that knife. Cant find the original emails we exchanged but I'm very excited to have a matching set finally.

Edit: SG, did I buy my Spalted Maple 2010 from you?

I used to own the pair -- 2010 spalted maple and camphor, both with swedge grinds. I can't recall if you bought the spalted maple directly from me, but when you got it, we corresponded about whether you wanted to pick up the camphor as well. Congrats on acquiring them both. They are great knives.

I like something like this but even smaller for me. Maybe in the 6 range case style. Was thinking if a foam pistol case would work or not. Never owned a pistol ( currently applying but in my state it takes awhile. ) I assume it could work if it was just a generic flat bed of foam. Something more uniquely tailored toward knives could work too like the one you got but it would have to be small!

Depends on where you store them, whether you lube them before hand, the weather around you (humidity). In perfect conditions (no humidity/moisture/coat of lube) or better yet controlled environment it would probably be years I think but really depends on too many factors. Blade steel (corrosion resistance), how is it finished (beat blast, stonewash, coating/DLC, mirror polished, etc). There are too many factors to consider in order to give you a good estimate.

How about an individual zippered pouch. Many custom high end knives come with that.

Is not the best picture because I'm at work and I just gave my kid my Pixel so I'm back on my old Nexus but the CF is pretty close to my Sebenza, now I just need a more pocketable sheath.

Got 2 inbounds right now, one is a Pale Moon Ebony that should be here today. The other fills a gap in my collection, it's a large lefty pre date-code Regular UG done by Chris. I bought it because it fills a gap, the fact that it's REALLY pretty is a bonus. :D
