I've missed pre-orders on knives I want to purchase that became unreasonably expensive days later on the secondary market. I have no control over other people who will do what they do. I have however learned my lesson in that I stay on top of pre-orders and release dates on knives I really covet so I don't miss out again. I usually do not pay more than the maker's intended price unless I really want it so a lot of those rare ones I missed out on I'll just have to do without. I prefer not to line other people's pockets, paying the dealer and the maker is usually enough for me.
Assuming that knife companies would prefer for everyone to have a fair shot at securing a hot knife at original price, limiting the number of limited edition knives you can buy isn't unreasonable. I suppose it is up to dealers, and they shouldn't be held to any moral standard, they're running a business. But even Dave suggested to think about others before you buy alot. I mean, could one person have bought all of the stock and hose everyone else? Regardless, if you like knives AND money, ya gotta keep your eyes open

Or you'll miss the train and its ebay time for ridiculous prices after that.
