The Deer Hunter - Buck 118 Personal (permanent thread - keep adding)

Well I am probably wrong on this. I thought the 3 dot 110s were the last Bucks made with 440C and the first with Paul Boss heat treat? Not sure about the fixed blades.

Not sure I ever posted a picture of my earliest Buck 118 paired with the period correct sheath that Hickory n steel Hickory n steel gifted to me several years ago. OH

I have been slowly adding to my Buck fixed blade collection this year. Most have been new. But I was walking around an antique store this weekend and came across this 118 in a display. The price was surprisingly affordable. And then I saw the "everything 20% off" sign. I went immediately went to get the person with the key to the display and bought it. If my research is correct, it was made between '67 and '72. It's been carried but not abused. Sharpened but not too much. I like the way it fits my hand and the blade shape makes it feel like it's going to be a great little hunting knife. Although, I can see myself using it more in the kitchen and around the house during the off season.

Love those older sheaths too. That one is in great shape. Nice find.

You got yourself a fine knife there! I think you are right about the date span, my favorite is the same model (bought from Cal several years ago). OH

You know, I never paid much attention to the 118 over the years, probably because I never handled one. I even read through this thread here on a number of occasions and still didn't set out to find one. Once I got it in my hands though, I was sold. I see it being handy for a lot of different things.
